It's tucked back in a little neighborhood and was very unassuming. Man was I happily surprised! The owner (I believe?) was behind the counter with her young adorable son. I ordered the Hawaiian burger (PINEAPPLE!) with fries and a beer. It smelled SO good, and I was not even surprised that it tasted even better. Her son helped to serve me - brought out like... seven different dipping sauces, pickles, and jalapenos. I devoured the burger - and the fries were perfectly fresh and crispy. I was reading a book and sitting on the patio and they didn't mind me camping out for a while. Her son was super quick to keep my beer refilled and clear plates. After I was done, he even brought out a super fresh little platter of cucumber, jicama, celery and carrots with lime and tajin. Delicious little treat. After a while the owner even brought me over a little bowl of homemade soup she was making to try! SO NICE, SO ACCOMODATING! Payment was super quick and easy. I wish I'd found them sooner, I would have 100% been there a few times. GREAT find!

Not where I expected to land, better than I expected to eat…read moreComing from the United States, voluntarily choosing a burger restaurant on vacation was not exactly on my agenda. But dining at Vidanta Nuevo Nayarit comes with a practical reality worth knowing: not every restaurant in the complex is open every night, so your choices on any given evening are determined by the schedule rather than purely by preference. On this particular night, The Burger Custom Made was where we landed. I am glad we did, even if it took me a moment to get there mentally. The appetizers set an unexpectedly high bar. The coconut breaded shrimp served with mango habanero chutney and a bacon dill dip were genuinely outstanding, fresh and creative with a combination of flavors that worked far better than it had any right to. The jalapeño poppers arrived breaded and stuffed with cream cheese, served alongside smoked BBQ sauce and a tomato-mango pico de gallo. Both starters were confident, well executed, and the kind of thing you order again before the first round is finished. The burgers delivered on their ambition. The smoked brisket burger combined a beef patty with actual brisket, cheddar cheese, onion rings, red wine BBQ sauce, and chipotle mayonnaise into something bold, enormous, and genuinely creative. The hamburger special with swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and bacon on a brioche bun was the more straightforward option and executed cleanly. Both were tasty, but the brisket burger was the clear standout and worth ordering. Dessert was a warm thick chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream, hazelnut spread, and marshmallows. Simple, unpretentious, and surprisingly satisfying as a closing note. Four stars for a meal that exceeded the expectations I walked in with. Not my first choice for a vacation dinner, but a better experience than I gave it credit for before sitting down.

Positives: There were many medium sized TVs for watching football & other sporting events. The menu was large and varied for what appeared to be a burger joint from the outside. The chicken fajitas, chicken wings and mashed potatoes were very tasty, and the servers were fast and friendly. Negative: The men who hawk the place and greet potential customers were actually rather unpleasant when we entered (e.g., no buenas noches, no thank you for coming, etc.). This was surprising given that part of their job is to entice people into the establishment and make the initial interaction hospitable and friendly. The food was rather Americanized - bland with little spice, and could have come from Applebees. And, it was the only place we saw a significant number of obese Americans. If you long for Applebees, TGIF, Chilis, etc., you will enjoy D'Z Route 66.
