The gym…read morehas good facilities overall which includes, steam room, sauna, hydrotherapy room, table tennis, café, ladies private gym, three separate classroom with punching bags and obviously not forgetting the two large gym areas. The car park has unfortunately been closed as the Ellesmere centre is taking it back. The gym has lines full of cardio machines and you won't be waiting for any of these types of machines. The weigh lifting area can get busy during peak times but you will this find that they have a more than one of everything to avoid queues and waiting times.

The facilities are what you would expect from a large multinational chain, there is a very large gym with lots and lots of machines, so many that you should need to wait your turn at any point, the free weights area is also very large. The pool is large and is accompanied by a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, plunge pool and Jacuzzi. If you fancy a game of squash or would like to join one of the many classes then this gym is for you.

Apparentley, DW is one of the biggest gyms in Wigan and draws a large crowd. However, despite how many treadmills or weights they may have, money and customer service appears, to me, to be a huge issue. In the two years I have been with said northerner, he has had numerous problems with DW, especially when concerning them taking money directly from his account without warning or his consent. I'll go back though. When in Wigan over the summer and christmas periods, he received phone calls from the gym asking him to bring in his passport (or id) for them and, when doing so, the reception staff appeared to have no interest or knowledge in why he had bought it in, only for him to get another phone call the following day asking him, again, to bring in his passport (or id). This ignorance/lack of knowledge seems to be the problem with money also. He went back on a free trial at Christmas and when questioned whether he would be returning at all, he answered that he might possibly be back during the Easter break but wasn't 100%, then yesterday they took the money for his membership from his account without warning or consent, other than the maybe they received in December. And this isn't the first time they have done this, and, as students, it is not fair - or, in my eyes, legal - for money to just be withdrawn from our accounts without warning! If DW could sort out its staff/communication/customer service, I'm sure it would be a perfect place to go and work out. However, this is a case of somewhere taking advantage of their power with bank accounts and personal information and using it for their own means. To my mind this has happened to the boyf before and they refused to repay him due to the lengthy process even though it their mistake. Students, stay away, because they aren't flexible in the least.

Though having done research i was suprised to see a lot of Martial arts places popping up around Wigan and specifically Mixed Martial Arts following the explosion of the UFC, should anyone with to begin learning Mixed Martial Arts there is healthy choice.
