We chose this motel kind of on a whim, but boy were we surprised! This is a lovely motel. It is old, but it has been well maintained and updated. As you drive in and see the grounds covered in flowers and grassy areas, you immediately know that the place is well cared for. The room was spacious (for a motel), the shower and bathroom were clean and well maintained. We loved it! If there is anything semi-negative to say, there is not always someone at the "front desk," but there is a phone number you can call if no one is there. That said, the front desk is in a lobby which is locked if someone is not at the desk. That means no access to ice if you needed it. We would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone. read more

Get away from the chain places. Take a chance and try a small-town motel, like the Cattlemen. It's an unusual property, about a block off the main street, in a quiet residential area, with only a few rooms, some of them pet-friendly, and at least one is a small apartment. That's the one I had. It's an older property. The front desk has limited hours. Check-in is simple, so is parking that allows parking in front of your room. You get a real key for your room. Cattlemen is not set up like a traditional motel. There are rooms on both sides of the building, but you don't realize it unless you walk around the property or have one of the rooms on the side street. I didn't hear any noises from any of the adjoining rooms, but the air conditioning might have muffled it. The room I had was a mini apartment with a full kitchen, big screen tv, sofa, kitchen table, a lot of closet and storage places. Although I didn't need any of that, I think this room would be a good place if I were in the area for an extended period of time or were traveling with kids. Being able to shop for groceries and have a meal in your room would be a nice break from restaurants. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked well. There were only a couple of amenities in the bathroom but plenty of towels and hot water. There's a cute garden area in the front near the office and outside the other rooms on the side street. Some of the rooms on the side street have chairs outside the doors for guests to sit and enjoy their coffee (or other) as they watch small town life unfold in the residential area it shares. The good: nice remodel and super clean. Really loved the vinyl plank flooring. So much better than carpeting! Mini fridge and microwave were clean and worked well. Bedding was nice and bed was comfortable. The bad: Heating/cooling unit was inefficient and SUPER loud. Motel staff and other guests stood right outside of our window and loudly discussed various topics more than once. Walls are thin and our neighbors were VERY active pretty much all night both nights we stayed. At one point we were pretty sure the police would want to interview us but didn't happen . The morning we left, as we were getting ready to depart, the water mysteriously just went off. No sink, shower, or toilet water. No warning. read more

It was a very cute, clean, adequate stay. The staff were very polite. Also a good and safe location. Great distance from Bighorn Canyon for a day trip. Only stayed one night but it was definitely perfect and not too pricey! I also accidentally left my hat in the room. They went out of their way to text me about an hour after we departed a picture of my hat and offered to have it shipped instead of just tossing it in the garbage. Very thankful for that! Would recommend for weary travelers, bed was very comfy. read more

Cozy, quaint, and quiet motel. Small yet spacious rooms. Quiet A/C which was CLUTCH in the summer time. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Plenty of outdoor seating to listen to the crickets by a fire. Nearby the local haunts. Decent BBQ joint across the street/parking lot. Big screen TV, microwave and mini-fridge. These folks are SO nice. My bag didn't make it to Billings on a recent flight, so I had to stay over there and wait for it to come the next day, causing me to miss my room that night at Cattlemen Hotel. Even tho I called to cancel at 10 pm, they credited me back my payment. They didn't have to do that. I'll look forward to staying there next chance I get. read more

This motel was great! The front desk lady was so nice and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfy.

Great find! Older building but in good shape and lots of updates/remodels made where it counts: paint, flooring, bathrooms/towels, curtains, sidewalks and parking lot. A/C! Nice fire pit area, make your own waffles for breakfast. Clean, comfy room. Fast free WiFi, cable. Manager was very friendly and upbeat. We had a single room and the big apartment. Single room very clean, simple and updated. Apartment has only one bedroom/bath but spacious living room with couch, love seat and manager brought roll away bed and bedding for the furniture. 3 kids slept in there just fine. Had a full kitchen with new appliances. The grocery store a block away was bigger and better than I would've expected for a town that size. We made a grocery run and ate in a meal or two. After being stuffed in hotel rooms for a few days, this room was WONDERFUL. And cheaper than a standard hotel room. Our only regret was that we were only here one night. read more

This was a small older motel, but the room was really clean and comfortable, the lady at the desk was super friendly, and there was a nice smoking area set up with patio furniture, etc. None of the other guests were loud or annoying at night so that was a plus, too. This motel is far nicer than one might think from the name and the external appearance. I had to stop here on my way to Sheridan from Cody, due to a blinding rain/snowstorm. The front desk employee couldn't have been nicer and set up me and my dog in a recently renovated, spotlessly clean and well-appointed room. Comfortable bed, tiled shower stall, new linens, new television, microwave and fridge. She recommended the nearby Brandin' Iron restaurant for dinner. Just off the main road in Lovell, this is a classic 1950s vintage motel (with driveway and canopy attached to the office). From the outside it seems about as far as possible from today's budget franchise motels. But it's clean and comfortable, and the staff are warm and welcoming. Fast wifi, plush towels, and fresh waffles for breakfast (you make your own). A real bargain if you're driving through and want to stop for the night. Thumbs up. read more

This motel was great! The price had us a little leery being so low, and the pictures being of just simple rooms but WOW!! Talk about bang for your buck! The rooms yes were very simple but the beds were comfy and the cleanliness from floor to ceiling and around the property was impeccable! They were very accommodating for us. We let them know we were traveling late and would get their after their office hours. They were more than happy to stay and wait for us to arrive and check in. They were totally booked with a busy hunting weekend. Our plans changed from when we booked our room so I called ahead and let them know we now needed a room with 2 beds. Unfortunately they didn't have any, but they moved a few things around and were able to fit a roll away in for our daughter which was made up all nice, neat and comfy which made her even more excited to sleep in it! Next time we come to Lovell, there is no question as to where we will be staying!! Thank you all so much!! read more
