The thing I tell people when I recommend acupuncture and Oriental medicine, is that it works by STRENGTHENING your body and your natural healing systems. So even if something isn't cured, you're likely to feel better and be in better general health, as well as a better position to take allopathic medicine if you still need to. For instance, when I needed to take an allopathic medicine that was very hard on my liver, after some months I had "the shakes," (I couldn't keep my hand steady, and even my jaw was jittery). I had no idea that it was from the medicine. Verena saw this symptom, commented that it was a sign of a weakened liver, and successfully treated it--by strengthening my liver! On my third visit to Zhao something went wrong and when I left the lower part of my face was quite numb. This got worse. Zhao said she couldn't understand what had happened, and that nothing like this had happened before. The numbness moved to the left side of my face and left side of my mouth. It continues now, two months after the session that caused it. I have seen a neurologist, who said it might go away, or it might not.
