When I complained about it, I was too thin; I weighed 130 lbs I'm 5'6"! On my third appt to complain, I suffered a heart attack in their office. I had two stents implanted at that time. 6 months later the pacer itself wore through my chest! Because it exited my body there was much infection and I needed the wires removed with the pacer. No one there could do that ( I would not have permitted it anyway) I was admitted to a Sarasota hospital and a thoracic surgeon there for open heart surgery. When I tried to speak with anyone there I was ignored then and since then. I had been treated in this practiced for nearly 20 years. They have really gone down the tubes since then. I have been calling for 3 weeks now and the scheduling place called the doctors office requesting info to schedule this test. I am still waiting. Totally ridiculous. I am tired of telling the office the same thing. It takes 5 min for someone at the doctors office to call scheduling dept to tell them which test. They did $10s of thousands worth of cardiac studies. They repeatedly adjusted my meds, my blood pressure remained consistently above 160/90. After an ER visit when my BP was 202/126 I scheduled a follow up appt. with my FHA cardiologist dr P . They called me the day before my appointment to say my cardiologist didn't want to be bothered with managing my blood pressure and I should go to my primary care physician. I have spoken with many thousands of my patients physicians and never seen worse. It breaks my heart that colleagues in the medical profession I love would have such an attitude.

This is a general review of Lee Health based on visits to a number of providers at their various…read morelocations in and around Ft. Myers / Cape Coral. I was drawn to Lee because they're hooked up to My Chart and Epic, which provides continuity of care with all member subscribers. Providers are able to pull up my medical history, as am I, going back to when I lived in Atlanta. (From my vantage, this should be a national system so all doctors are on the same page, so to speak.) I've had both excellent experiences at Lee and some that left me scratching my head in wonder. One provider neglected to thoroughly review a CT scan. Had I not read my report, a potentially problematic result would have been ignored. It goes without saying that you have to be vigilant and proactive about your own health. If you don't have the mental acuity to do that, hopefully someone close can step in on your behalf. (I saw the necessity to oversee all of my mother's healthcare when she was in her nineties and still very sharp.) The Lee facilities I've been to are modern and well-tended. The staff has always been polite with ancillary personnel efficient and qualified. Their labs are well-run and infinitely better than the independent places I've gone to when out of town. While no system is perfect, I'm by-and-large pleased with Lee.

Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue.
