Mac Dre was a Vallejo based rapper influential in popularizing hyphy, a cultural movement during the '90s that combined dance movements with rap. He started Thizz Entertainment which distributed his underground creations as well as many local rappers. Mac Dre died via a drive by killer in Kansas City on 11/1/04. this concrete garbage unit on the corner has 3 panels of ceramic art depicting a fish & 2…read morebutterflies. perfectly abstract depictions but for the deteriorating state of the unit and a panel without any ceramic art. a reasonable presumption for the blank side would be it's the route for the garbage to be taken out. nevertheless, the visual of vanishing numbers of fish due to overfishing and butterflies due to loss of livable habitats during it's migration is stark and disconcerting. it may be a concrete garbage can in plain sight. the symbolism of the ceramic art appears once one ponders about the visuals......
