I absolutely love Castle Nails! I am graduating from ISU this weekend and I the one thing I will miss the most about living in the Bloomington-Normal area is this nail salon. I have never been disappointed. I've gotten acrylics and no-chip manicures from here and they've always lasted a long time. The prices are also very affordable. I went in for a no chip exactly three weeks ago and these are my nails today. Absolutely no chipped nails. Amy did them! She was super sweet and worked fast but as you can see she did a great job. Not impressed. Came in to have polish (dipped) removed. I waited 45 mins. instead of soaking them he started to pull the polish off with a tool. I told him, I was bit into torture, so preferred he soak them. He then said $14 extra. Ugh. He git the polish off, but as you can see from photos did not remove all of it. said I had to "wash my hands" to get the polish spots of. Did not file or remove the d polish debris. Just slapped on some top coat and sent me on my way. With all the salons in town, I will not return here. Will go back to Kim's Nails in college st. Much better service and skills. read more

Not impressed at all. When the original owners were here (Lin and Nick) this place was amazing. Now....not so much. My pedicure lasted all of 13 minutes. He rushed me and there was only one other customer here. I asked him to repaint the big toe because he smugged the paint. instead he painted over it. Looked sloppy. I called to see if they had availability for an appointment in ten minutes from the time i was calling. They said yes. I arrived ten minutes later and ended up waiting 40 minutes and they sent 4 people ahead of me who walked in after me. If i wasn't already on the outskirts of Normal, I would have left and tried to go somewhere else. I wanted a manicure with regular polish. And the total time they spent on the manicure was 8 minutes including the polish time!!!! One of my nails is even jagged (see photo) and i was even cut by the tech bleeding with a scab. I picked out a deep red polish and a gold glitter for the ring finger. One girl filed and pushed my cuticles back then a different man did the polish. He asked me before he started where i wanted the gold glitter and i told him. He forgot to put it on and when i brought it to his attention he said "oops i already put the top coat on, sorry". Cost was cheap but i will never spend my money here again, such a disappointment as i have a special event this weekend that i wanted nice nails for. read more

Since this salon has a new owner I have not been satisfied with their services. I had my nails done by Tiffany for years. The last three times I have gone I have requested Tiffany and was told by the owner that she was on vacation. I finally asked one of the technicians (?) and found out that she has moved. If I could give this nail salon zero stars I would! Do not go here if you are looking for a clean, professional, and classy place to get your nails done. This is by far the worst nail place I have ever been to! When my husband and I arrived for our pedicures (I made sure to call ahead and make an appointment since I had never been here before) everyone in the building ignored us. Eventually we were helped but were given an additional wait even though we had an "appointment". The first red flag here was that all of the polishes looked dirty, old, and diluted. I wanted to leave seeing this but my husband convinced me to stay and give it a try. Once we were seated, we both selected the $30 (gold) pedicures that were their most expensive offered. As soon as our service started, both of our technicians refused to trim our toes and seemed offended when we asked for them to be shorter. Then, when it was time for the massage portion of the pedicure both of our nail techs set timers. We had no idea why they were doing this at the time, but after we both received an unauthorized $3 charge on our final bills we believe this was their way of keeping track of the extra massage minutes because they charge more per minute. (a fact they leave out and don't tell you-I only discovered this when I went back and read their website) To make matters worse, both of our massages were horrible and both nail tech barely wanted to touch or rub our feet or legs. Then, as soon as my husband was done he was rushed out of his seat, even though there was no line or wait for pedicure chairs, and not allowed to continue to sit next to me. Finally, my toes had to be repainted 3 times because the first two times old paint was used and too many coats were applied. After waiting 20+ minutes for my nails to dry twice, the paint would bubble up and slide right off my toenails each time. I finally requested a different color be applied. It was at this time that the owner and a female employee started to berate me telling me it was my fault my nails wouldn't dry and that I should have waited an hour! They denied the paint was old or that too many coats had been applied. They told me if I didn't want it to come off again I needed to pay $30 more for gel polish. At this point I was so upset and embarrassed as everyone in the salon was staring at me that I just allowed them to paint my nails a final time and had my husband come in and pay so I could just leave. We did pay the full amount and tipped both nail tech because the owner was unwilling to to do anything for us even though the issue was brought to his attention before we left. It is for this reason that I am leaving this review-to warn others not to even frequent this establishment. If you are not happy with your service they do not care and won't do anything about it. I normally get an appointment with a nail tech I really like. I was told on the phone she was available. Went in and she was not - I asked for a French Pedicure and got some new individual who told me, "no - I cannot do this - your nail will look weird". He then painted them all white - the absolute most sloppy - worst paint job I've ever had anywhere. It was a mess and I'm glad I didn't do a full pedicure. The service was okay. It's a hit and miss with the workers, some do amazing work and some...not so much. I went the other day for a pedicure and it was EXTREMELY obvious that the workers just wanted to get you out of the chair.Just rushing the whole time and being rough! The guy I had literally DUG into my big toe and took way too much skin off and when I slightly flinched from him TAKING TOO MUCH SKIN OFF he told me to stop and be careful?!?! How about YOU BE CAREFUL!!! Then on top of that a couple of days ago I realized my big toe hurts...guess what....he gave me an ingrown toenail that got infected! So now I have to take care of that Probably because they don't sanitize their pedicure bowls because I didn't see ANYONE wash those things after I was done and people just kept coming in. I just left this salon very upset with the way Tina manipulated me into getting the dip vs gel manicure. She said it was better for my nails and that they would last longer than gel. I looked up gel vs. dip and agreed to the dip product. I asked Tina if she was going to trim the cuticles and lose skin around me nails, which is what every manicurist has done when I get a manicure and she said no that would be extra. I told her I asked for a manicure which always includes this and she said I agreed to the dip and that trimming was not included in the dip. I expressed my dissatisfaction but Tina did not care. I got my nails done about a week ago by Lucas at castle nails by appointment as well. I asked for a white to yellow gradient (white on bottom, yellow on top). Lucas told me it would like better yellow to white, so of course i agreed. When he started my nails he didn't push my cuticles back and just started my nails. I asked for a coffin shape, in not disappointed in the shape even though i do believe it became dull after a day or two. My nail is really thick and bumpy on both middle fingers. The gradient is horrible done, the powder dip was placed horrible on my nail bed. I could see Lucas wasn't happy with his work, and even the other nail tech sitting next to him noticed and made a bad face and said something to lucas. Lucas said himself it didn't blend good, yet made me up full price and didn't offer to re-do it. i was just disappointed by the whole experience, he didn't care to fix an obvious mistake. i was referred to him and he typically does a good job but i guess it was his off day. So we came in hoping to find a spot for my soon to be sister in laws pre-wedding nail appt for the big day. Sadly this place won't be it. There were 4 of us; 2 men (my brother and my husband) and her and I. We made appts for 2 pm ahead of time and arrived at 1:50, and left at 2:23. We were taken in right away, albeit rushed on polish choices. After that none of the nail techs spoke to us, they just shoved our bodies around and chatted and laughed with each other. I came out with scratches and knicks on my feet, which hopefully will heal. The polish job wasn't great either, with no shaping of the nails. The products seemed thin and watery and my skin is kinda burning around spots the cuticle nippers were around, there are still spots you can see through the polish after 2 coats. The sanitation seemed to be lacking, and over all rude behavior is leading us to look elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend even in a pinch. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had worst nail salon experience at this business today. I get a dip manicure every two weeks and have been doing so for a year; therefore, I am very familiar with the process. I tried this place as I am new in town and am looking for a new salon. First, I currently have dip powder on my nails. Instead of filing and soaking, the tech (not sure this person was even a licensed tech at this point), attempted to use an acrylic nail to get under the current dip powder and pop it off. I quickly pulled my hand back and reminded them that I had dip powder on and it is always soaked off. Second, they brought me a very small bowl of acetone with a paper towel in it. It was so small I couldn't get all my fingers in the acetone at once. I ended up doing 1/2 of the soak off by rubbing nails on the paper towel (this would have been ok in any other circumstance). Tech then started filing and once again tried to pick off the remaining dip that was left. At that point I started to question the integrity of the place. There were other workers talking very loudly to one another and some doing services while on talking on their phone. After they attempted to pick the dip off for the second time, I politely said that's enough, I don't want to continue with this service, we are not on the same page, please let me know the total for the 1/2 soak off, thank you. I didn't get a total and had to go to the front desk. I again asked for the total and was charged $11 for a partial soak off. I left with the dip still partially on my nails but was happy to get out of there before my nails were ruined, and go somewhere else that was clean, friendly, and properly cared for my nails. read more

Went here for the first time to get a new set of dip. For starters the lady used a fake nail to remove my dip instead of using acetone and foil like I've always gotten. It not only hurt but she broke 4 of my nails that I've been working on growing out. She said it was fine because she'll just glue on tips to make them all even - something I didn't even want. I asked for French tip and instead of using a nude dip and painting on the white tip with gel, she used dip for the white part as well making every white tip different as you can see in the pictures. I brought this up and the overall quality of how they were looking multiple times as she was doing the nails and she kept reassuring me that they would look perfect by the end. The second time I brought it up she said that the reason the white is only gonna be "80-90% perfect" is because they didn't have the white powder they normally have to make the edges sharp. I suggested that if that's the case, I should only have to pay 80-90% of the price and she said she'll give me $5 off. I paid and was gonna go back the next day because of how bad they looked but decided to not even bother because their quality of service clearly wasn't even worth the trip. Overall super disappointed with my nails, especially because it was such a simple request and will not be returning there in the future. I did also get a pedicure done by Linda (a different lady than the one who did my nails) and she did a great job so I'll give them credit for that. read more

I typically do not write reviews but needed to share my experience tonight. I've gone to this salon several times and I've always been confused why a manicure has not come with cleaning up the cuticle and even a short hand massage as I think is custom at any other salon. Although I've questioned it to myself several times this has never been a deal breaker. However tonight I got my nails done by a women there that will result in me never going back. I haven't gotten my nails done in a salon all year due to the pandemic but I do keep up with trimming and filing them myself. Walking into the salon my nails were a bit long but had a decent shape. Now my nails are short and incredibly uneven, if I hadn't of told her that all of my nails were at an uneven slant they'd be even worse right now. The dip powder is so thick and was not done well in slightest bit. When checking out with a different women in the salon she looked at my nails almost in shock but continued to request the full payment. I will never go to this salon again after today. read more

I will NEVER go back to this place. I went to get a dip manicure less than two weeks ago with my friend, (I usually go at home in Chicago but needed to go while here at school) and both of us had a chipped nail within 4 days. I went back to get it fixed, and they charged me $4 for the nail, definitely should have gotten it for free but wasn't going to complain about $4, SO I pay and leave. Within less than one more week I had THREE nails chipped, including one that completely came off in one piece while I was running my fingers through my hair. I go back to get the 3 nails fixed, because at this point its only been less than two weeks and I ain't paying for a whole new set yet. They charge me $12 for the 3 nails I needed fixed EVEN THOUGH it wasn't my fault, and also tried to tell me it would be an extra $5 to get my nails filed down. I pay without complaints, as the nice person I am and leave the place. ONE HOUR LATER, MY NAIL F**KING CHIPS. THE NAIL I JUST GOT FIXED.
