Slightly too commercial for my usual taste (i.e. you can only buy Heinenken), it more than makes up for the shortcoming with the guaranteed 30 degree weather and fantastic location just 10 minutes from the beach. After two visits, I have a couple of tips for prospective newcomers: - If you arrive on the Thursday afternoon, you tend to be able to get into the campsite that is right next to the festival. Any earlier, and it's not yet open, any later, and it's full. This is important, because the other one is a bus ride away, and who can be bothered with that after dancing all night?! - It's hot. Really hot. Take some shade. Take a gazebo - it'll be the best 20 euros you've spent in a long time. - There used to be a public beach party on the Monday night after the festival was fairly classic, everyone in the sea all night etc, but not sure it's still going so worth checking before you book your flights. Quite a few people I've spoken to have rented apartments instead of camping, which seems to be a good option but there's not much with air conditioning around, so it's still hot, and not as fun. All in all, very different to a British festival but well worth the trip. Easy to get to - about an hour out of Valencia airport, and there's a cheap shuttle bus laid on for you.

A beautiful garden in the heart of Valencia (near the University). Such a peaceful place to walk…read morearound, sit down, and really take in all the sights and sounds. There are all sorts of tropical plants, desert cacti, and a lot of grounds to explore. Everything seemed to be well maintained. We had plans to visit another day during our trip, but we had just tried checking out a cocktail bar that was unfortunately closed. So this was nearby and we popped over for about an hour or so. It costs a few bucks to enter, which I'm fine paying. It's worth it. Only sad part is we weren't prepared to take too many photos (wife didn't have her camera with her), so hopefully we'll return someday to take more pics. Also wonder if there is a best time of year to visit...

Wow, just WOW! They call it a gunpowder concert but it's an understatement as it is done with both…read moreground and aerial fireworks. There is both the rhythm and just pure spectacle of it all. I went for the final 3 days and the finale was slightly longer with launching colorful barrages at the end of aerials. Someone told me to keep my mouth open or risk eardrum rupture, but I am probably the only one other than first responders wearing hearing protection.

We…read moregot here only 50 minutes before closing, so we had to see it fast, but we would not have missed it for the world. First, the exterior is amazing. Then the interior! Glass and crystal chandeliers. Gorgeous period rooms (carriages on the first floor!) Fabulous paintings- both framed and on the ceilings. Tiles, Vases, Mantel Clocks, Statues, kitchen ware- you name it, you will see it here. If you are familiar with the Decorative Arts Museum and the Romanticismo museum- this is like a combination of those two Madrid museums. It's 5 euros, but free if you have the National Museum Cards for Spain- which can be bought at many of the National Museums of Spain, and which we found to be a good deal, since we love museums. You can take pictures here- but NO flash. We were so happy to be able to take some pictures away to help us remember our experience.

There is also a reduced rate of 1€ for retired persons, groups, etc. + An audio guide is available, for a fee, in Spanish, Valencian, English, French, or Italian. + On the main level, there an area with seats that shows a video that gives a brief overview of the Falles Festival and shows the process and detail of how the monuments were created + Ninots, monuments that were saved (chosen by vote of the people) from the fires of the festival are displayed in chronological order, with the older ones on the first floor, and the newer ones on the second floor. + The second floor is accessible via stairs or a small elevator. Definitely worth a visit. You could easily go through the museum in 30 minutes, or more if you take time to take photos of all of the ninots, which are extremely detailed.

Each year during the big festival they vote on the best falle and save part of it and keep it in this museum. It does not take much more than about an hour to walk through this museum.
