A very well rebuilt and preserved castle. Probably worth an hour stop.
There is a small entry fee and once you are in you can walk on the castle walls or explore the old cisterns.
Don't miss the cisterns. They have quite a few signs in English and Portuguese here so this is the place where you can find a lot of information. Unfortunately the stairwell is steep and not exactly accessible.
When you get tired walking around you have a coffee or other drink at the cafe in the middle of the castle.
They were modernizing the grounds and adding a lot of nice landscaping. Makes me think that they are considering hosting events like weddings in the castle. read more
