He was kind to everyone and basically introduced everyone by where they were from. He does a great job playing the saxophone. After a short break from his music there was trivia and then dancing (we left after the trivia). Not a local place for Portuguese folks but definitely people from all over the world stop in. Oh and the food was yummy too --- Johnny's wife is the chef. Definitely a fun and memorable night. Make sure to stop in!

Right in the pedestrian zone full of shops and restaurants, this is the perfect spot for a drink any time of day or night. There always seems to be a fun vibe and decent amount of patrons at this lively spot, probably due to them engaging the locals. Karaoke on Saturdays and some Wednesdays (check the chalkboard sign out front for dates and times) is a hit and you can be sure there will be a fun gathering and sing along during these evenings. They have inside and outside tables available (even when it is cooler the outside is open).

So we drove there, got lost, went back, found the correct road and went to the end...cul-de-sac with limited parking to say the least...quick about turn, back down the hill to a very small car park and got the very last space....there is an overflow car park but it shuts early. Good thing we arrived before our reservation So up the hill on foot, down the other side to the beach and left to the Beach Bar. Its a simple construction: room / terrace / beach overflow. A bit windy, but sunny and we had been told that there would be no room outside at our 15:45 slot but as it happened there was a spare table - a few in from the first entrance...that turned out to be perfect...you do not want to be closer First, the service from all waiters and waitresses was superb - top notch, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable The food: we shared a starter of tempura prawns, we both ordered the roast beef (of which more later), a couple of glasses of wine, water, cheesecake, a brownie and coffees. Total €85 - our most expensive meal for the whole holiday. Was it worth it - absolutely. We had every intention of having fish (it looked delicious) but we sort of got tempted by the beef especially as we could order rare and well done...and it was; hardly ever happens. Delicious, loads of veggies too. The rest of the food was also excellent...the atmosphere, service, food all made for a really lovely day out. Way above expectations (Wow too to the two girls (twins?) out with their parents and younger brother to our left - they ordered the octopus and cleared their plates...its so good to see kids a) behaving in restaurants (which they can find boring and restraining) and b) being "food educated" at an early stage and not just getting the first hamburger or fish and chips on the menu. The Black Stove has the only jukebox in Alvor, which is updated on a monthly basis so contains everything you could think of even up to the most recent hits. They import their Guinness from Dublin so it's the best pint in Alvor! It has free wifi and it's also the only wheelchair accessible bar in Alvor. A truly great experience!

A great place for food, drinks and entertainment right on the beach. Visited here in the Summer of…read more2018. It's on the very tip of the beach between a sailing school and a nature preserve, so it's very pristine. The club is set up every Summer and taken down in the Fall, back to unspoiled beach. When it's running, there is great food, a variety of drinks and ice cold beer to be had. I liked everything I tasted on the menu, which includes a variety of sandwiches, appetizers, salads and soups. I especially liked the Salmorejo, which is a cold tomato soup traditional to the region, similar to gazpacho, but with a smooth, creamy consistency. They even have the special Iberico ham, which you can savor while enjoying the ocean breezes. The Mosquito Club also has soft drinks and whipped fruit shakes and is very family friendly. There are a variety of activities there each day, which they publish in the Mosquito Magazine in print and online. I liked the live music at night best.
