When I returned for dinner, the place was empty. So that was kinda a red flag. Had a burger which was fine, not bad but nothing special. If you're looking for a perfectly decent diner breakfast, stop in here for a cool local spot. If you're looking for dinner, probably try the Tides Inn social if you're seeking better food.

Service was friendly, albeit a bit slow. The food was subpar and quite bland overall. We ordered two portions of fish and chips. Not only were the fried fish quite small, they were completely unseasoned. The chips were similarly lacking in terms of seasoning. The coconut cream pie was the best part of an otherwise subpar meal. Overall, the ambiance alone could not salvage the mediocre meal.

Due to the time and the season we were told no food spots were open and this was likely our only option. Basically a lifesaver to prevent us from having to eat the minimal food we got in our car so we were thankful for their grab and go sandwiches and wraps. Bread was a touch soggy due to sitting in the fridge sometime but overall good size for the price sandwiches. Nothing world class or mind blowing but considering our situation and honestly price we can't complain!

The store is more "grocery" and less "convenience store" thanks to the large selection and the lack of large grocery stores in this part of Maine, which is right next to the Canadian border. Canned goods, candy, dairy, deli, lots of wine and beer plus the sort of automotive items you might find in a 7-Eleven including oil, anti-freeze and gasoline cans. They were stocking the pizza display as we arrived. They also sell lottery tickets. Plenty of parking out front. At this time, masks are required and the nice woman behind the counter was wearing hers when we made our purchase. [Review 14861 overall, 363 of 2021, number 47 in Maine.]

Lovely produce, at least the stuff we bought was lovely - local strawberries, bird seed, peppers, lettuce, tomatoes. Some decent values too. We also bought some beef and chicken/veggie skewers here to grill back at our cottage. I'm very picky about protein - and it was really good. I was truly expecting more of a convenience store.... this is a full on grocery. Not the 'super store' you may be used to in larger areas, but perfectly fine - at least for the traveler! Also next to the only place on the island to get gas....

Thanks to Raye's Mustard--a storefront right downtown featuring allll of their mustards and more. It's amazing that Raye's makes their mustards RIGHT THERE, in Eastport--and not only that, the same family has done so for over 100 years. Everything is handcrafted with a stone-ground mustard mill and made in small batches. If you're a mustard aficionado you'll find everything from plain yellow mustards to various kinds of stone-ground; mustards made with beer, and others with wine; spicy mustards, sweet mustards, peppery mustards; seasonal blends including things like (of course) Maine blueberries and cranberries. What's great is that you can buy regular-sized jars and also little ones, and there are various sets and gift baskets to choose from too. And of course, you can sample anything you want! The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable, and just ask for a cracker or pretzel with whatever you want to try, and they'll oblige. One thing I should augment here is the use of the term "plain yellow mustard," above: Rayes' versions of the classic yellow (for all of you who, like me, grew up on French's) include the Down East Schooner as well as the Aroostock Gold, and WOW. It's like imagine all the best addictive qualities of French's and punch up and freshen up the tanginess! So basically I came away with big box of mustards that will be shared out for the holidays--I'm delighted to have been able to pick them up right there at the source, but the good news is that you can order online, too!

We had a thin crust pizza with spicy beef ( they don't use pork), onions, garlic and mushrooms. When was the last time you had chanterelles on a pizza? Me, either. The pizza crust was amazing. Unfortunately, by the time we got it home, not so much. Chewy and full of flavor, however. Next time we'll bring chairs and eat it on site. The spicy beef was great in lieu of sausage. My only criticism is the sauce was too sweet and it detracted from the other flavors. That said , it was still an excellent pie.
