Where to start with Baffin Bay inn. I've stayed at similar fishing lodges like The Cast and Stay…read moredown the street. But what I will say is that this place is actually a "frame on Slab" set of homes (as opposed to a bungalow/mobile home type set up). They have a nice common house that has 4 beds, and a big kitchen! It has a nice bar and a foozeball table. The tv is small but it does have cable and the patio is nice too! It does have a grill. The other houses on the property are pretty bare but they do the job. They do have the essentials like a shower. A kitchen sink, refrigerator and a microwave. The tvs also have satellite! Lets talk about the fishing. Their pier is huge! We went we 8 people and 2 poles each and we all fit comfortably. Drums, trout, and crabs (yes blue crabs) all day! Great fishing to say the least! Overall, the place does the job and has a nice common house for entertainment. The grounds keepers are there on site checkin on you which is nice to know if you need something addressed, they are right there to fix it! Will definitely come back to fish here again with my friends!

Stayed here recently for work. Wasn't expecting a whole lot but it was the closest hotel to the job…read moresite. As soon as I opened the door, I got blasted by a wave of heat and a smell that can only be described as a middle school football locker room. Pretty much everything in the room was musty, rusty or crusty. The bed did seem to be clean and was comfortable enough. There were weird sticky spots and stains on the carpet. Can't say I would want to stay here again, but it'll do in a pinch for a night.

Came to visit my husband while on a work trip. I'm assuming this is the nicest hotel in town…read more The rooms are decent. It actually wasn't that bad. The photos are a bit misleading as to the pool area, but we didn't use it and the kids that did use it seemed pretty content, as they were in there every day. My husband said the people at the front desk were pleasant and didn't give him a hard time about checking in. The only issue e have with this particular location is al the rooms are smoking rooms and we didn't know this when booking. The room we were in you could not really tell, so if that's an issue, go to the tiny HEB and get some room spray and a candle like we did and voila... It does state on the website it is a smoking hotel, but he didn't notice so we just had to deal with it. The bathrooms are clean. Actually the cleanest bathroom I've seen in a long time, away from home. The bed was comfy. True towels are small but usable. They have cable and you can hook up a fire stick or any other streaming device to the tv. There were no issues with bugs, that we encountered anyhow. Plenty of front door parking. Parking lot is well lit at night and the AC worked great. I didn't hear the people next to us at all, although I do travel with my fan so maybe that blocked some of the noise, but I did go without the fan while Hubs was watching tv and still heard nothing. Super short drive to local restaurants.

The room was ok, but the TV didn't work. We were here with a large group and no one had TV. The water in the shower only came out of half the showerhead, half still came out of the tub faucet. The breakfast was horrible. Went done @ 830 and no breakfast. No coffee, had to make your own. Only had cereal and waffles. They did not refill anything. I guess you have to be there when it starts to get any food. If you tell us breakfast until 9am. I expect to have breakfast until 9am. I am a choice member and this is one of the worse experiences i have had.

Room 339 smelled like the mngt had sprayed some kind of cologne in the A/C to mask another odor that was in the room. It was hard to sleep with the odor and management wouldn't change our room. There was dust/dirt/paper scraps all over the hotel in the stairwells, hallways, elevator and rooms. Dirt built up in the corners and sides of the stairways and public areas where a vacuum couldn't reach. Stains all over the carpets in public areas. Hair dryer mount was broken so it had to be laid on the counter. There was no second roll of toilet paper in the room. Stains on "clean" towels. Toilet seat did not fit the size of the bowl and was not a "soft close" seat. It was too short and we would have to touch the rim of the exposed bowl to lift the lid. Dead bolt on the door did not work. It was fixed and not movable. We could not get the TV to work so we reported it to one of the managers at the desk. He said he would have it checked and when we got back, he was surly and said the "TV works." The problem was, the TV is not usable without the remote and the remote itself was faulty. We finally figured out that the remote "off" button turned the TV on and off. The "on" button did not work. The "Guide" button did not work. Room 212 - There was a nasty stain on a foot stool. Since pets are not allowed, I could only assume it was human. No second roll of toilet paper in the room. Shampoo dispenser mount was broken and had to be laid on the tub surround. There was dust and unclean surfaces. Caulking in the bathroom looked like a 6 year old kid put it on. Same for room 339. Overall - If the staff were friendly, a lot of this stuff would be forgivable but they were cold and seemed put out of their way to be called out to the front desk from the back to answer questions for us. Doors around the hotel, were left open which could cause security issues. The breakfast at 8:30 a.m. only had a few scraps of cooked potatoes left and no one was tending it. There were only 2 warmers. One with potato scraps, the other looked like it could have been powdered eggs. Not sure. There was an open sewage line in the rear of the hotel (outside the dining room) that had toilet paper that had poured out with whatever contents there were with it. Finally, there is a saltwater tank in the foyer of the hotel that had beautiful clown fish playing in sea anemones when we arrived. When we left, the clown fish were gone.
