WARNING: Lost coat check ticket = hours in freezing cold with no alternatives I lost my coat check ticket at Cassiopeia last night. My jacket contained my wallet, ID, and house keys - everything I needed to get home. I immediately went to coat check and explained the situation. I offered to: Describe my jacket in detail Describe everything inside it (including my ID) Show identification through other means Wait inside the venue until 5 AM when they do returns The staff refused all of these options. Their only response: "Come back at 5 AM" or "Come back Monday." When I explained I literally could not go home without my keys and had no money without my wallet, they called security and forced me to leave the club entirely. I was not aggressive, not drunk, not causing any problems - I was a paying customer calmly trying to solve a problem. I was forced to wait outside in 0°C temperatures for hours without a jacket, unable to go anywhere else because all my belongings were locked inside. The issue: Lost coat check tickets happen constantly at every venue. Most clubs have reasonable procedures: verification through ID, jacket description, security deposit, or at minimum letting you wait inside until closing. Cassiopeia's policy is: lose your ticket = you're ejected into the cold with zero alternatives, even if your house keys and wallet are in there. This isn't just bad customer service - it's a safety issue. If you're going here, photograph your coat check ticket or you may end up locked out in freezing temperatures. read more

Cassiopeia is a very cool beer garden. I was in the area and came in during an afternoon to watch the boulderers climb. The beer garden is quite literally in a blown up building area where trees provide shade and during the evening are lit up with colored mood lighting. The graffiti gives the area's walls character and are sometimes nice to look at and admire. They have several beers on tap or in the fridge. They use a deposit/return glass scheme where they hand you a button/pin for a euro that you'll have returned once you come back with your empty glass. In my case it's normally exchanged right back for another beer. The spot has themed nights such as disco events and fun international music. As an American, the open consumption laws are very freeing and makes for a very relaxed experience. The staff speaks fluent English but will bear with your as you struggle in broken German. read more

Rock climbing. Skate Park. Beer Garden. Need I say more. This place is the epitome of cool! I was going to say I was there at summer time, but actually it was October, but there was a heat wave for two days of 30 degrees so as you can imagine it was lovely to relax in the beer garden there. The area is very vast, you can decide to have a few drinks in a massive sand pit with deck chairs, alots of the walls are decorated with graffiti, I guess it's for the arty folk, and well if you're in Berlin, you'll probably fit right in :) Good price for drinks too! read more

Wow 5 stars from me but the fact that I went here 3 times over 5 nights is Berlin should explain how much I enjoyed it here! Situated in East Berlin, nicely tucked into the area of next to Warshauer strass U Bahn - Cass' is in what can only be described as a compound of derelict warehouses, funky bars with no frills and a vibe that is laid back and independent. With 3 big club rooms and 3 bars inside - everyone is catered for on a night out. On the weds night I went to see rapper Pharoahe Monch, Friday was all about 80's music/indie/rock and Hiphop while Saturday was more general cool tunes throughout with another favourite rapper 'Shabaam Sadeeq' playing live in the main room. Cloakrooms are €1, pints of excellent wheat beer €2.30 and the bouncers actually are a pleasure to chat to. If only this was how clubs operated back in the UK! If you're in Berlin - you have to go here. Just check their website to see what's on in advance. Just be warned - the German guys on the fussball tables upstairs are absolute masters. Thank God for Yelp. I read Jonny Q's review for this place while looking for a place to dance and vibe and it was just as funky as he described -- the good funky kind. We arrived and went to the second floor where I two stepped and tried my very best to salsa dance, before heading downstairs to break it down to the hip hop. I can't remember what music they played because the beers were €1.50 so yeah I was out of it but I do remember they played super classic jams. It was a very good looking crowd too. Check the nights to go though because we went back the next day and it was as dead as disco. Also tourist friendly as it is right next to the train and has a noodle spot on the corner. read more

This place is Heaven for an old-school hip-hop and reggae fan. It's Huge! I went on a Wednesday and the other 3 floors weren't open but the 2 large rooms on the ground floor were enough - friendly bartenders and you actually get 1 euro off your drinks if you return the pin they give you upon returning your used glass. How nice! They also start to mix the old school w/ some trance dub later in the night in the hiphop room, which was very cool. That mixed w/ the 'smoke' in the air (hey, it's a reggae club), makes for a very transcendent experience. Highly recommended!! read more

Nice for a Friday night and you don't know what to do. Its nice in the summer time because you can hang out in the garden/abandoned graffiti buildings. The crowd is pretty mixed with people from various alternative scenes as well as your normal people, who are probably mostly students or under 30. When you think of Berlin, this is a pretty cool "East Berlin" club. Its a good place to go after a few beers along Simon-Dach for some 80's dancing. read more

You'll find more standard music here, and the crowd is young. It feels a little dirty, but the lights are turned up more than the usual Berlin clubs. I got followed out by some guys I didn't want to talk to, so don't go there alone. I'd recommend this to the younger crowd. read more

Nighttime review only (the place becomes a multi room club and bar). And of course, as a non-native, I can't comment on the German crowd, just the crowd we were with. This was the last stop on the Alternative Berlin pub crawl when I went to Berlin in the summer of 2008. By this time we were all pretty soused and had just witnessed our tour guide puking his guts out right after getting off the U-Bahn. Seems like he does it often enough, too: he kept chanting "just keep rollin', rollin', rollin'..." between heaves. Time was about 2:30AM and the place was hopping. There was a cover -- I want to say 10 euros or less -- and then we were in. Anyway, that sets the mood... There were several bar areas and dance floors. I don't remember exactly what I got, but I do remember that the ground floor bar has bottles of apple cider and some beers as well. Cool tidbit: When you buy a bottle, they give you a 'cassiopeia'-labeled badge pin. When you return the bottle with the pin, they give you 50 cents back. I actually deliberately did not return a bottle so I could keep a pin for souvenir purposes (and then I lost it anyway.. sigh.) The upper floor is more chill while the lower floor is very dancy. When I was there, the upper floor had reclining chairs that you could lean back in. There's also funky chairs to sit in if you go outside. I had a lot of fun here, and I can't think of any bad things to say about this place. During the day you can more visibly see its origins as a bombed out wartime factory, which is very cool. I'm glad they've turned such a wretched place into something so great, so it gets my seal of approval! read more

Two level club set amidst rubbly DDR buildings next to the S-bahn. I've only been once, but enjoyed the music upstairs: classic 80s/90s dancehall, well DJ'd. A live act was playing downstairs (you walk through that space to get upstairs, and to the toilets): something to do with German guys and rap. The bar upstairs had good, professional staff (front door staff was good too) and it wasn't too hard to get a drink. Some hardercore rasta types hanging in the corners to listen to the music and watch the German girls try to whine n grine. Crowd was in their 20's and pretty tame/normal. I'd go again to listen to the music upstairs, but that's all. Though the fact that Tenor Fly is playing there live tonight (a dancehall classic) impressed me. Accessibility from Warschauer Strasse S-bahn may be a plus for some. read more

The food is not great, but the price is right. Going here is an awesome experience. The outdoor bar/beer garden is housed in the graffiti lined brick walls of a factory in ruins.The outdoor bar is fantastic, and makes for an ideal day drinking venue, weather/season permitting. The outdoor theater is also very cool, and it's located in a very cool part of East Berlin. read more

This was my first (and sadly only) club visit in Berlin. It all started one Friday night with a visit to a very dull gay bar. (If I may add, the person who "led" us to the gay bar was not aware it was one despite the sign that said "This is a gay bar", and they had previously gone here with another guy who is also straight). However thanks to this visit we also discovered music coming from this sketchy looking area, which we visited the next night. Initially walking into Cassiopeia I had no idea what to expect, I didn't even know what the name of the place was. I was utterly surprised to see and hear rap & hip hop. I like the music but I just can't dance to it. One of my friends felt the same way so we decided to explore. We moved onto another room which played some electronica type of music? I don't know what its called but there were a lot of beeps and boops, and again I can't dance to that....I don't think anyone can unless they're taking some serious drugs. Not my thing, so we move upstairs and I don't remember what they were playing but we didn't enjoy it enough to stay. At this point I am completely disappointed, and not so happy we let 'guy who can't even accidentally bring us to a fun gay bar' drag us back here when I wanted to go to Berghain or anywhere else. We give hip hop another try but quickly abort that again and decide to give the upper floor a better look. Let's just say I'm glad we came back up stairs. I danced away to some oldies with two girl friends and we also got a show. Some b-boys came out and despite the fact that I was kicked twice, I enjoyed their moves (the first kick occured right after I told my friend the last time I stood in a circle around a break dancer I got kicked... ironic much?). I'm just glad I got my chance to dance. It ended up being a fun night, and I even wanted to come back. But failed to do so. *fyi-The fact that I thought one of the b-boys was adorably cute might be a slight factor in my desire to come back. read more

Had a very good night, DJ was amazing, played good music, drinks we're relatively cheap and nice inside and outside areas.

If I could give 0 starts I could. Music is terrible, but it is the people inside that makes me give this rating. Predatory, weird guys creeping on us (we went as two women) all night long, including one that would sit uncomfortably next to us and pestering us to "talk." I did not have fun at all. There was no room to dance in the room downstairs, and the music was not making you move either. Upstairs, only 2-3 people were dancing. That is if you don't care getting stared at by the creepy guys. I can't believe this 0-quality place has a high rating. Also can't believe I payed 15 EUROS to enter this place you can hardly call a "club." Do yourself a favor and dance at your home, would be better than coming here. read more

So, I thought that since the yelp reviews were pretty good, and I was going to be in the area, that I'd stop in for New Years Eve. The queue was about 30 minutes, not bad, and I thought the music would be promising. Garbage. The worst music ever. It was like old OLD school hip hop remixed with trashy techno. I was half drunk when I walked in, and was completely sober and disappointed when I walked out 20 minutes later. There are about 3 dance floors, not 1 had anything decent to listen to, and the space was awkward. Even Soda Club is better than this, and that is a pity. Waste of 15 euros. read more

This is a review for the daytime. This place is pretty awesome. An old railway station that's turned into a multipurpose area. There's a restaurant, an outdoor beer garden, a rock climbing wall and skate ramp. Some of the buildings are bombed out and many have lots of street art on them. A cool place to spend the afternoon. In the beer garden area beers are about 3 euros. Definitely check this place out of you're in Berlin. read more
