A super fun excursion not only just for kids (although you won't stick out as much if you do come…read morewith kids) but also those who are young at heart. MIM, for any of you that have been to the Exploratorium in San Francisco...it is exactly like the Exploratorium but on a smaller scale - they even had a 3D movie theater! They also have workshops you can put your kids in while you walk around exploring. The staff are hired to work well with kids and they even make sure they have English and Portuguese speakers to foreigners who visit on tours. When I first came, I had a friend who worked there, so he gave us a special tour and let us into various different workshops. I especially recommend the electric one - you actually get slightly electrocuted (don't worry it doesn't hurt). I also came with a group of kids, and it was fun playing with them in the bubble activity as well as the different interactive stations. This is a great place to celebrate a kids birthday, go on a first date or have a team building excursion - it is also pretty easy to get to and just a short walk from the metro or if you come in car they have a large parking area.

One of the most original museums in Santiago (although my personal favorite is the Science and Tech…read moreMuseum), the MIM is the preferred museum by scholars. It has exhibits which people can touch and interact with. There are several sectors within the museum, each one dedicated to a specific area of science. You can also find a small 3D cinema. This place is fascinating. To enter you must walk though a tunnel with lights that make you dizzy. Even though it is a good cultural activity, sometimes the crowd is too big and there aren't too many guides available.
