We are in Nice, France and were going to a grocery store and upon entering Younes was told to put my backpack behind the desk. I assumed this was standard but when we got to the desk there were no other backpacks or bags of any sort there. We complied but Younes pointed out an older white woman with a backpack shopping around carelessly. As soon as we noticed her, we noticed dozens more of white people with duffel bags, backpacks, satchels, roller carts. Younes told the security guard "why does she have a backpack?" And even though she was in plain sight maybe 5ft away and Younes was asking extremely politely the security guard continued to say "I am security" and wouldn't look at her. We put our bag there that has nothing in it which doesn't matter if we were going to steal something, and I took my wallet. We became more and more frustrated and didn't want to shop there any longer but I still bought something so we didn't fit their stereotypes or anything they would've thought. When we were leaving, Younes wanted to stand by the door and see who he told to put their backpacks there. He did it to one white guy who had a duffel bag only cause Younes was standing there and when the white guy was confused the security guard "searched" his bag. Again, that makes no sense if he was going to steal something. I started filming too late and one of their coworkers yelled about not filming or something. It's amazing to see the blatant racism in other countries. It's not like we don't already get looks on vacations. Younes is a brown man with an asian girl. I just figured if you're going to be racist, at least make it seem like it's a "everyone has to" thing. Instead of constantly acting like you don't know what we're saying and that you're "security!". We get it, you guard vegetables from black boys. A big fuck you from Boston, Massachusetts read more
