Casetta di Campagna came highly recommended by my Italian colleague who is local to the area. So I took a ride in a taxi from my hotel one fine Sunday evening, and was promptly greeted upon arrival.
Finely appointed spacious dining room, wide selection of fine wines and some interesting pieces of decor to admire.
The night went fabulous in a company of friends and a good conversation. Just as this place came highly regarded by a colleague of mine, I must pass on the torch and recommend it to others. Excellent food, English is spoken, great ambience and the prices are reasonable.
Started with a glass of Italian sparkling wine, a Prosseco, and continued with red Italian wine from Lazio, a bottle of Shiraz. Service was absolutely on par.
Ordered several antipasti, Insalata mista con pomodorini e olive (mixed greens salad with fresh tomatoes and olives); Egg Frittata with smoked salmon; Carpaccio con mozzarella e funghi pochini (thinly sliced meat with mozzarella and porcini mushrooms).
Primi pastas, gnocchi con funghi with mushrooms and potato gnocchi ai funghi with mushroom sauce. Spaghetti marinara Parmigiano Reggiano.
For the main entree, L'Entrecôte, or ribeye steak, comes from the rib area, French for a beef steak that was cut from between the ribs. Basically it's a very thin boneless ribeye. Chicory side.
Finished it all off with delectable dessert, a tiramisu washed down with another glass of Prosecco. And a shot of espresso to clear the palette and to wake me up. After all, I had to take another taxi ride back to my hotel!
