    Filth and excrement from bathroom

Feces and filth. No comment after calling and emailing photos of the dirty kitchen, the feces-laden bathroom we cleaned personally, the sticky old carpet and the duct taped windows. We also personally cleaned a dirty kitchen floor (filthy wipes after two feet, we used 7 wipes), a human excrement filled bathroom floor, a disgusting poop stain around the plunger on another floor, and filth and flies everywhere. I have photos of a poop stained rag, the plunger, and the human poop/excrement on a sponge.

    Nice ambionce!

We have stayed in 3 of the 4 cabins and they are all rustic and unique. All have picture windows facing Lake Superior so you can enjoy the endless horizon and sunrise. You can't see the other cabins from inside so you truly feel away. There are no tv's. (Yay!) No wifi. (Amen!) And depending on your cellular carrier, no phone. (Whew!) If you go up North regularly you know what I mean. Each cabin has different games and books. The kitchens have everything you need to make meals. 3 of the 4 cabins have an outdoor fire pit. (Breakers is the only one without.) Tina & Don are great hosts who live on site if you need them. Good luck making a reservation as there are people who reserve the same time every year, all season long. Word of mouth is how we found this place way before they had a website.

This place simple: no wi fi, and no cell service in the cabin--walk up to the main road to connect. The rocky shore here is great, and the other guests are friendly. Cash only, and guests are expected to wash and put away dishes and run the vacuum before checking out.

The nightly s'mores were a fun touch, and the pool and hot tub were relaxing, with a pretty walkway leading to them. Our room was comfortable, with cozy beds and extra bedding, which we appreciated. We loved that the main lodge had hot coffee and ice water available - as well as games and loves to check out! That said, the exterior is starting to show some age, with weeds throughout the grounds and overgrown bushes making the sidewalks feel crowded. A window on our room was broken and the indoor pool was out of commission. While the activities are a great perk, one was full before I could attend, and the yoga class I signed up for didn't have an instructor show up. Overall though, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay and I'd happily come back again!

We stayed for three nights last second booking a same day reservation now that these are managed by Odyssey Resorts (thanks, Jackie at the call center!). Plenty of space for two of us in this one-bedroom rental which had a master bed/bath on ground level as well as full kitchen, dinning, living room, and wood burning stove. Never turned the TV on but had a nice flat screen and plenty of DVDs, books, games. Best part was the giant private patio where we enjoyed our coffee and drinks most days. Charcoal grill at each cabin and communal fire pits. Had the windows open all day as weather was perfect in late July. Could hear the waves crashing against the shore. The lodge area has super friendly staff, more DVDs, maps of local area and hikes, as well as a pool, hot tub, bikes to rent, playground, and more. This property is perfectly located near tons of hiking and Lutsen Ski Resort. Since they're townhomes you are quite close to neighbors and foot traffic but all in all we had an amazing long weekend. Will be back!

I couldn't find the fee before booking, so I didn't know what it was until I received my receipt. I thought $100 was a little high. The amenities in the unit were nice, but very minimal. They could benefit from providing silverware, plates, and maybe even a toaster or toaster oven. However, the fireplace and whirlpool tub were top-notch. The resort also lacks privacy. They have beautiful windows that open up to offer views of the river and Lake Superior, but the North Shore Trail, which guests can use for lake access, runs right in front of all the units so if you want your blinds open your basically on display most of the time. Luckily, we visited during the off-season, so the resort wasn't busy at all. We stayed in room 556, and in our building specifically, our enclosed patio faced directly into one of the other units. Again, we were lucky that it was non-peak season, but it wouldn't have been my preference if the resort was busier. I was happy to see they offered pet-friendly rooms, but I wish I had booked one without the enclosed patio for easier access to let the dog outside. Parking was convenient, with designated spots right in front of the building. Overall, the stay was nice, but I would probably choose a different option if I returned to the area.

There is a neat place in northern Minnesota just a rock's throw from Lutsen that you've never heard of, but that you will never forget once you've visited. They have these super cool Dome Shaped cabins (I don't know what else to call them) in the middle of the forest. Once you are inside it, think part OmniMax theater screen on one side that you look out into the forest and get to overlook beautiful Lake Superior. It is a view you will never forget, and an experience that is hard to describe to others. It's a fully functional unit or small apartment: King size bed, full bathroom with shower, kitchen with everything but an oven (but had a stove top) including all dishes and utensils, heated floors, neat eco-friendly wood pellet heater/stove/furnace, a queen size bed in the loft, and a view to die for. The King Size bed was oh so comfortable (better than home) and the unit was super clean. The staff, Nicole and Emma, were super friendly, accommodating and so easy to work with. It almost felt like you were working with your best friends. This is a family business and located in their eco-friendly sustainable plot of land. They have chickens, goats and a large garden or small farm, where they grow things in a eco-friendly, sustainable fashion. They encourage guests to compost their leftovers, but to be mindful not to throw certain items in the compost (like Avocado skins and pits) as their chickens, who eventually eat the compost, don't particularly like Avocoados :-). There are four domes total at Klarhet, all available to book. Each has a King-Sized Bed on the main level, with a Queen-Sized Bed on the loft. Each dome has a different theme. We had friends in another Dome at the same time, so this made it double the fun. Klarhet mans "Clear Mind" in Scandinavian. And you can definitely do it here at Klarhet. It's a fantastic place, but don't go expecting 5-Star Hotel amenities (no TV, no pool, no ice maker, no vending machine, no land line phone, no Wi-Fi but you will get cell phone reception and data from your own cell phone provider). This is a place to unwind, and disconnect. (Think luxurious cabin with an amazing view!) They also have chickens and goats on the property that are part of the ambience of the place (they all have names too). You will be give fresh eggs from these chickens to eat too. Nicole gives a farm talk to any interested about how they are creating a sustainable food forest on their 26 acres. (Take it - Nicole is a great speaker and very passionate about what they are trying to create here.) You can bring food and prepare it yourself in the kitchen, or you can go out to eat at nearby restaurants. You can go hiking, biking or skiing nearby, depending on the season you attend. Now, if I can only figure out how that bear got in my bed next to me last night, because she snored awfully loud all night long :-).
