I went there last night for a dinner with my family, this is a particularly nice place to go, a bit fancy though. The restaurant was built on an old house with the typical northern architecture and now poses some modern architecture traces. It was a good idea to reabilitate the building. It is a family owned restaurant, you will see the host wandering around while his wife cooks the food!
As soon as you enter you have the dining tables (around 10) on your right and a little bar with some sofas facing a library for you to wait until your table is ready. It is pretty cozy and relaxing to be there, specially because there is not any other kind of palce like this one nearby. I am talking really rural! So it was kind of a breath of fresh air to find this place. As I said on the timetable for this establishment you have to call to book your place and to see if it is open or not.
As a Vegetarian it is imperative to book before hand and to mention the vegetarian option, they are nice enough to cook something for you. They have a delicious selection of locally grown mushrooms (yumm!).
The food was nice (not great but pretty nice), I had Mushrooms with Pasta. And for desert you have a pretty wide selection and you can eat whatever you want, like a Buffet style! It is a pretty modern style of food using local produce. The plates are very well arranged!
Basically this is a very nice place, in a city like Lisboa it would be an ok place to eat (better than many around there) but for the place where it is at, and even for Guarda, this is a pearl of a find! If you find yourself nearby go there, you will be pleasantly surprised! The Host is one of the friendliest guys around! read more
