We arrived in Basel and toured the Christmas markets and wanted a casual dinner. The hotel recommended Casanova for some good pasta. It wasn't crowded but we were warmly greeted and seated. An amuse buche sandwich arrived quickly. We had some difficulty as they don't have an English menu but Google Translate fixed that.
You can select a pasta and any sauce combination with a choice of starter or dinner sized. We had pappadelle with bolognese and fusilli Ala Norma. The food arrived and it was delicious! Absolutely homemade pasta! The Norma sauce was good and fresh, large eggplant chunks abounded.
The bolognese was also good. We had dinner size which was very filling.
Atmosphere is casual modern, with full bar. Service attentive but not intrusive.
The pastas were 28 francs each, bottle of soda 5 francs. Food isn't cheap here but this was high quality and service. Conveniently located near the old gate on way to markets.
I would certainly return next time we are here. read more
