Casal de Folgueiras is a gorgeous bed and breakfast in Galicia, just a few minutes drive from the ocean and from the wine festivals in Cambados. We stayed here for two nights and wish we could have stayed more! The walls of our room were made of stone, and the entire country house is from the 1600s. It was unseasonably hot while we were in the area, so our room was supplied with a nice fan which kept us cool during the day until we could open the windows and let in the cool vineyard air at night.
Luis, the owner, was an extraordinary host and cooked a delicious breakfast for us every morning (at one point I peeked into the kitchen and noticed baskets full of oranges - that orange juice is definitely fresh-squeezed). Our first day, we in addition to the usual food had a homemade tart for breakfast; apparently cheesecake is a breakfast food in Spain! I'm not complaining at all! :) He also had recommendations for a range of activities and spoke excellent English for when our Spanish faltered. We ended up renting kayaks and paddling out to a nearby island off the coast!
100% would stay here again. read more
