Candi was on top of our questions and service even as we had some special requests. The free chips and salsa and a large ordered guac held us until the food arrived. The Pacifico draft beer was served in a huge mug, and the water was nearly as large. The veggie fajitas were served sizzling and steaming with more than just peppers and onions- mushrooms and broccoli included too with all the regular sides. They got our order wrong. I wanted the daily special. Didn't get it. Got something completely different. The wife's "fajitas" were served on a bed of rice with no salad or tortillas. That was strange. Service was really slow and there were only 3 other tables in there. And the finale was the wife got very very sick on the way home. No shredded beef! So it is down graded menu for gringos! Ground beef had no flavor other than cayenne pepper. Very disappointing. My taco was full of flavorless ground beef and not much else. Tiny bit of cheese and small amount of lettuce. The enchilada sauce was the best rhing on the table. But ploeing through the flavorless grpund beef ruined the enchilada. Nothing you order will be bad. I always have trouble deciding between the chicken fajitas or tacos pueblo. Either way, I can't go wrong.

Let me start off by saying I have always enjoyed the food here. Their food is really delicious and my go to are the Birria tacos. My complaint is that the customer service is lacking severely. My husband and I visited, and there was only two other tables in the middle of the afternoon occupied. The servers seem very bored with the job and acted like we were more of a nuisance than actual patrons. We didn't ask for anything extra, and then when people would come in, it took them a minute to get seated because the workers were on their phones. No one seems happy here and I completely understand that everybody has a bad day but how is it each time that I have came in this building whether it's full or not the workers do not have the ability to have a customer service mentality. read more

Excellent Mexican in Decatur. The salsa is not my favorite (too chunky and watery), but I love the chicken enchiladas and beef chimichanga. Service can be a bit slow on busy nights, and the prices are slightly higher than other restaurants in the area, but the dining area is very, very clean. read more

Worst service ever. First of all, we were seated in front of the door, which our waitress could not help, but every time someone opened the door, we received an Arctic blast. I ate in my winter coat. The waitress took our drink order, our drinks were served, and then she came back to check on us? We had to ask for menus. Ordered our food with queso for appetizer. It was served. Then we had to ask for napkins. Our food was served, and we had to ask for utensils. Our drinks were never refilled. I am mature enough to recognize when a restaurant is packed and a waitress is overworked, but by the time we left, the restaurant was less than half full. The food was just decent. Not exceptional. Just a few days after my calorie-laden meal with John for the sake of Birria tacos, I got a Snapchat from BJ letting me know that she and Jeannie were at Casa Santiago Mexican Grill on 6th Avenue. The picture she sent? Quesabirrias on the menu. Off I went! Though not my #1 Birria taco, it IS #1 in Decatur so far! Super meaty, lots of flavor, crispy, ooey gooey cheese. Even better after adding the cilantro, onions, and red sauce. I will definitely be returning for these... and for the Pueblo Tacos Jeannie got. These are my now-favorite street tacos in Decatur. Cute presentation too. BJ got the Sanchez Burrito. Beefy with all the toppings inside, with just cheese sauce on the outside. It was good, as were the chips, salsa, and guacamole. There are quite a number of mexican restaurants in the decatur area that I have yet to try, but I'm sure a few of them are gonna have their work cut out for them when compared to Casa Santiago (casa for short). Lets discuss. The salsa was wonderfully balanced with a cilantro bite that came out on top with a hint of onions, tomatoes, and chilies. Honestly, prolly some of the best salsa I have had in a while. For my entree, I changed it up and had the Canario. Two chicken chimichangas drizzled in cheese sauce. Normally I'm not big on chimis, but these were different. The outer shell was not too crisp yet not too soft either, and the melted cheese helped balance out its imperfections. The chicken on the inside was not too dry but not dripping wet (which is one of my pet peeves about chimis) and spiced up rather well. Finally, the guacamole on the side was very flavorful and fresh like it was just made that morning. Everything was very good, and service was very prompt and attentive. I highly recommend Casa on 6th avenue for its convenience alone. But convenience aside, the food, the atmosphere is worth going out of the way for. As I said before, Decatur has many mexican restaurants that I am sure are very good, but Casa is definitely one of the greats. Since Yelp only lets you give whole numbers when giving ratings I will give Casa a 5/5 but it is definitely worth every star. read more

When we asked for more time to decide on our orders he huffed in our faces and scribbled out his order sheet before rushing away. This is their second location here in Decatur. My wife, Daughter and I all went there last weekend and this place was busy. Because this place was so busy the service was slow. It seemed as the larger tables were getting more attention than the smaller tables. More than likely because of a larger tip. My wife and I tip very well for good service, but when you slack off don't count on getting anything. The food was good and we all made happy plates. The restaurant is laid out weird for a Mexican ambiance. Service is fast, friendly and the food is DELICIO! One of the best so far. The drinks, not so good. Margaritas come in beer mugs only and we never get a salt rim. Taste is awful and overpoweringly tart. Can barely taste the top shelf tequila we ordered. To add, food truck experience and why it's different from the restaurant. First, the generator they run for power is so loud you can't hear the person taking your order and it's also hard for them to hear you. The taco meat is so oily when you order the steak unless you prefer hart clogging tacos. If you order the shredded beef, it's so soggy your tacos fall apart. I would not order from the truck again if they don't drain their oil or juice from the meat before serving it on their tacos. I would rather eat at the restaurant or order for pickup to avoid the noise, heavy oil or wet tacos. read more

A friend and I went to Casa Santiago today and was about to be seated in the middle of the restaurant by a large party already seated and asked to be seated by the window for the sunlight. We were seated by the window and after about 10 minutes the hostess just came and closed the window. We asked why and she stated bc the party wanted the windows closed because of sunlight when they had been there a while with no complaints. We wanted to know why their request was accommodated while ours was ignored. They had no problem With the sunlight prior to now. I guess being "minorities" in this situation was means for our request not to be met or even compromised. If our opinions don't matter, then my money will be spent elsewhere. Not only was the food great, but the service was amazing. Oscar was our waiter and he was so sweet and understanding. We had our 9 year old and our 1 year old with us and they split a meal. He was kind enough to have the kitchen staff split the meal onto two different plates so we didn't have too! He also gave our 1 year old a sucker after he was crying a bit for being cranky/sleepy.
