This place is good for spa services at decent prices. The spa is attached to the Rosarito Beach Hotel, so it is in a very convenient and easy to find location.
The facility itself is very old, yet charming. When you first arrive you will be given keys to a locker and verbal instructions to change and go to the relaxation room. The locker room is, again, very very old. In the men's room the sauna was not working and the jacuzzi was lukewarm at most. The ladies and gentlemen spa areas are separated, thus my husband and I could not enjoy the jacuzzi together. That's okay. We met up in the relaxation room.
I selected the 30 minute Swedish and 30 minute facial. My masseuse, Margarita, was great! She had soft, warm hands that felt amazing. I prefer light pressure for my massages and she did wonderfully. The only thing was she kept accidentally pulling my hair which was a mood killer. Whenever she leaned over, her body would press against my hair and the chair/bed and it would pull my hair. I just couldn't reach the "bliss" zone because I kept getting a jolt back into reality. Trust, I tried to adjust my hair to no avail. Besides that, it would've been a perfect massage.
After the massage, there was an awkward moment due to miscommunication. Margarita told me to rest for one moment, then she left. So I assumed it meant she would return. I assumed incorrectly. I waited a moment too long when she knocked on the door and asked if I was ready yet. Whoops! Poor thing was waiting for me. I hurriedly got dressed to meet her outside. We walked together to my next treatment room.
The facial was fantastic. My skin felt amazing afterwards! The facial includes a little bit of scalp, neck, and chest massage. Just a little. The hair pulling thing happened maybe once during the facial, so that was an improvement. Also, the cleansing brush (similar to a clairsonic) rotated some strands of my hair and ripped it out. Ouch! This is even with a headband holding my hair back :(.
My husband received a deep tissue massage and said it was good. His masseuse was Alicia, and according to my husband she was very nice.
During my stay in Rosarito, I noticed other massage places that do not advertise online. You can find them down the tourist drag, a couple are Dagnino's and Namaste, both with cheaper pricing. I cannot vouch for their services though, since I haven't tried them. Just thought I'd share since I didn't find these other spas until AFTER I booked at casa playa.
Happy spa-ing :) read more
