This authentic old stone house could have been here for hundreds of years. It resembles a Hobbit Hole and makes you feel mythical. Old wood beams and stairs that creak with character. The living quarters and bunk room is upstairs. True communal living no private rooms that I am aware of. It is clean enough. One shared bathroom upstairs with a shower and one downstairs. I do think I got bed bug bites here or at the other hostel I stayed at just before this but oh well it's the Camino. Marcello will cook for you an authentic dinner of pasta, salad, wine and dessert and wonderful Spanish bread. Good carbs for the Camino ! This was about $12 euro while I was there. In the quaint kitchen. Worth checking out if you want off the beaten path.

It even has a laundry facility where we could was our dirty and wet hiking clothes. The food here was delicious and plentiful. Our stay included breakfast where we calorie loaded for another long day on the Camino. I highly recommend HC 96. If you find yourself in Melide give HC 96 a try. It really was an amazing family experience meeting people from all over the road and sharing Camino stories. Just as we were ready to leave, Angela callled us back for the Que Mada ceremony where she lit the bowl of alcohol and fruit on fire. I also had a quick breakfast there before going to Samos.

It is a challenge to find, at least with our direction, but after you make it through a lovely town that appears deserted, it is a welcome sight. Look for the hanging outdoor lights and ask in the restaurant if you miss the hotel entrance. It is down an alley on your right before the restaurant. They leave the heat on and have laundry available. the meals were plentiful and they had healthy options. Super kind employees that answered questions, good coffee to start our day

The check-in was smooth and fast and some of the staff can speak English if your Spanish is bad. There is only one elevator and the rooms are very comfortable with modern thermostats to change the temperature in the room. The dinner and breakfast at the hotel is very good, it is buffet style. There is also an outdoor patio with a food truck.

It is a tiny town with this nice big restaurant with a terrific menu of Spanish classics, including the best cheese and quince dessert I've ever had with all in house made ingredients. Terrific classics gambas al ajillo and ensalada mixto and terrific coffee con Leche. Also stayed in a room which was comfortable and clean. Also has a very comfortable bar in front, the restaurant is around back. The same staff runs both so you may have to let them know you're there but once you do, you won't be disappointed.
