Tip: If you are a foreigner they will give you close to 20% off the price by asking for a discount. However, they will require you to pay in local currency. They stayed open a little later for me that same evening and I got lucky and they had a bomber style leather jacket that was almost exactly what I had in mind. They sell a bunch of really cool, rustic and durable leather goods here. Their wallets, purses, backpacks, duffels, and other leather goods are all good stuff. I love the smell of this shop- take in all that leather. They have such a variety. The shop isn't the biggest, and they keep things on the wall, but they'll come help with a long pole to take things down to take a closer look. Prices were good, considering the quality of the craftsmanship. Most of the stuff is pretty rugged and durable looking, good for the Pampa, but not overly ornate. If you ask, they give a cash discount. The store's name sounds as if Argentina finally got their act together and named a month after its favorite Yelper, Curt C. Thus, Curtiembre was born.

The other is mostly purses and satchels for women. Almost all of the products are leather and in a multitude of pastel colors. The designs are so cool with seamless mix of retro and modern. The soles of the shoes for example either have a molded design of Argentina or human metatarsals I think this is a stand-alone design house because when I asked, I was told this was the only place in the world to get these shoes. And boy was I ready to buy except... the entire block was out of electricity and I didn't have time before my flight to get cash. I didn't see anything in either store that I did not like a lot. The products are unique. The leather isn't department store perfect, lending character to each piece. I was happy to find this shop because all the goods were handmade. Smaller bags ranged from 500 to 1000 ARG. Jackets depended on the amount of work and detail were in the 1000-2500 range. Wallets were 100 to 250 ARG. The shop is open on Sundays, unlike many of the stores in the area. There was an older gentleman and younger gentleman at the store. The older gentleman speaks some English and makes all the products there. He will also make custom products, within two weeks. Tip: The customer isn't king\queen. Find what you like, buy, and get out. Even though I found items I wanted to buy, I walked away empty handed. The older gentleman asked me to leave the store. I don't know if it was a language barrier, cultural barrier, I took too much time looking, or some other real or imaginary offense. I was cast to the curb. A perplexed two stars it is.

I went to his store which was in an apartment and purchased a few after bargaining. When I come home I found a website with prices and was dismayed at how much I had overpaid. So I called him and he gave me a song and dance about if you pay with an Argentine credit card he gets credits and blah blah blah. So I said that I will return them and repurchase them with a friend who has an Argentinian credit card to get the credits. He went into a lengthy story about how that would be difficult and yada yada yada. So he gave me an extra bag at no cost. The whole process is a bit mystifying and left you with the feeling that you definitely got ripped off.
