The lower one is long and deep with frescos depicting ting the life of St. Francis; a narrow staircase takes you down to the crypt, where the remains of St. Francis are kept inside a stone sarcophagus. Visitors are required to remain silent so the experience is quiet and divine. The upper basilica is lofty with natural light; its walls are beautifully decorated. Again you'll find panels depicting the life of Christ and St Francis. Brochures in many languages provide good history of the establishment and St Francis's belief (peace and brotherhood), his dedication, and the history of the Franciscan Friars. The church has three major part. If you are visiting, make sure you see all. The main Cathedral section with dome and worship hall. This church has interior pray center right before the alter. The second is at small door on the right side of the alter. This door lead you to back of small chapel, museum, gift shop, and display center. This is the best part of the church. This part has a display of St. Francisco hold his hand up. Somehow the live white dove just seat on his hand like him in the pass preaching to the bird. There is a small chapel has old historic painting on the wall. Very precious. The third part is the square in front of the church. It is people gathering and have fun.
