I had never seen so many cuts of meats in my life, and although I am one to turn vegetarian at the thought of "hanging meats" sometimes my European background kicks in and I am willing to try. I sampled two salumis and one cured meat: pork sausage with fennel (my fave; think of what you would find in America but 1000 times better, Boar's salumis which was saltier but surprisingly not bad, even if the stuffed boar of which I took a photo will forever be etched in my mind, and finally the cured pork fillet which has been proven to be my least favorite. It was delicate prosciutto and a bit too "soft" for my liking. I explored the cheese basement which was luke warm and before I saw the camera I touched one; it turned out to be the real deal and not wrapped in plastic as they appeared. So I apologize to the unsuspecting person who buys this wheel. ;) My only complaint was the bathroom had zero ventilation and was very Italian. Of course, I was only there for a minute but I still prefer cleaner ones. Still, it was great that they even had a public bathroom and I was really impressed with this entire shop! Do go here if you visit this quaint little town!

A little attitude with our lunch: ======================= At first, we asked if it was the same place with the food we were seeing being served by the first floor coffeehouse/café...and the server/manager laughed and said, "Ohhhh no...they use microwave", and she proceeded to show us upstairs. Then, we were greeted by a young waiter. He showed us to a table, but since there was only diners at 2 tables and there was room at the edge of the terrace, we asked to be seated there. He scoffed, "Well, that is not the table I chose for you". Then, after we ate our pasta and risotto, we asked "Don't you serve bread at lunch?". He responded, "Well no, you had pastas...so we do not". This was actually funny, but we insisted...and glad we did. It was very good bread, a round focaccia...and warm and fresh. The menu, the order: ================= A very small and limited lunch menu. About 8 things total. The gf got a Tagliatelle with wild boar ragu, and i got a zucchini and onion risotto -- both small portions. The Tagliatelle was fresh with great tomato sauce, but about 6 pieces of very hard and inedible pieces of pork [2.5 stars, 12 euros]. The risotto was very good, but a little uneventful [4.0 stars, 12 euros]. The Mixed salad [3.5 stars, 9 euros] we ordered was fine, and as always, bottles at the table of olive oil and vinegar to do your own dressing. Great EVOO, but the vinegar was awful...a red wine vinegar vs a balsamic. Overall, great location, food was okay, but attitude/service was poor...wouldn't go again.

We were seated on the upstairs patio. You have a nice, open air, view of the central square. Service was quick and courteous. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced (not a surprise in Italy). We ordered starters, main courses and deserts. All of the dishes were nicely prepared. I particularly enjoyed the lamb for a main course. It was perfect. Although way too full we squeezed in deserts as well. Reservations are recommended.

We started with the bruschetta pomodoro, and the tomatoes were the best I have ever eaten (Including from a farm). They were exquisite! We also got the burrata with truffle and it was an explosion of flavors ! For dinner I got the truffle ravioli and my hubby got the filet. Both were fantastic. The pasta was just the right amount too, not huge like in America. For dessert we got the pistachio panna cotta. Highly recommend if you are in the area !!!!

As a Black woman from the U.S., I faced poor customer service and discrimination. My tour guide, Tomaso, was rude and condescending. First, he ignored me and other people of color in my group by not speaking to us or even giving eye contact at the beginning of the tour. Second, Tomaso told me that I wasn't allowed to record videos as this was the owner's rule and he demanded that I delete any videos from my phone. I felt that he was singling me out and trying to embarrass me. This "policy" was not shared in writing or verbally in advance. Also, I've seen other guests post videos on social media, even days before my visit, which included Tomaso's face. The energy of the tour felt unwelcoming. During the tasting, no one followed up to ask how I was enjoying the wines or if I was interested in purchasing. It felt like the establishment didn't care about my business. Next, the staff said I could take photos with my wine in front of the amazing terrace view, then they refused. The castle shouldn't schedule tastings right before closing if guests will be pushed out. The only reason I didn't leave a one star review is due to a good experience with an outstanding staff member. Sole was very nice and offered me a ride to my car! She's the kind of employee who should be rewarded for going above and beyond and providing wonderful service to guests. Overall, the castle was beautiful, but the tour was dry with no enthusiasm and the service was lacking. Some staff seemed more concerned with showing attention to white guests and heading home than providing a memorable visit for everyone. I envisioned a once-in-a-lifetime experience that would leave me feeling enlightened, supported, and valued. Instead, I felt dismissed, excluded, and disrespected. I will return to Tuscany, but to a different winery that prides themselves on excellent service and fairness for all.

I have had the great fortune to visit Verrazzano on 3 occasions and even stayed on the property for 2 days with 2 of my cousins (Cujinos) ... I am good friends with the great and wonderful Luigi Cappellini whose father purchase the property in 1958 .. The property was a bit run-down at the time, but the Cappellini family brought the beautiful estate back to life and made it the great place it is today. Luigi and his family are wonderful people. AT Verrazznno they make some of the BEst Chianti in all of the Chianti Classico Region.. They also make wonderful Honey, Aceto, Chianti Vinegar, and Tuscan Olive Oil. Maurizio himself gave a tour of the barrel room and also gave an explanation of both wine and olive oil production. We sat in a covered outdoor dining area to enjoy some pasta and charcuterie while different wines were poured. Pairing suggestions were given which made the tastings all the more enjoyable. Their chianti classico and syrah were my favorites. I ordered three bottles of each of these to be shipped home. My wife also purchased one of their olive oil based skin products which she really likes.
