One of the dining room's western bronzes

This little B&B is well off the beaten path, and that's part of its charm. It was built in the 1920s as a western vacation home for a millionaire and his guests. All the period details have been preserved, so stepping through the front door is like stepping back in time. Everywhere you look there are western paintings and bronze sculptures. My favorite is the stagecoach with six horses fording a river. The courtyard is a lush garden with fountains and hummingbirds. It's the perfect place for meditation, yoga, or a quiet cup of coffee. In the morning and evening you can step outside to find deer and antelope grazing under the majestic Tooth of Time. If you want to experience mountain scenery and western history, then this is the place for you.

Right when you walk in, you can feel the love the kind owners have put into this B&B. The breakfast is the BIG standout here! Gourmet and better than any luxury hotel out there- I mean, we were stunned plus the kids were happy! It's walkable to cute shops/restaurants in town, and the view is beautiful. Catch more views and a great hike at Capulin Volcano National Park just 30min away (get there before 4pm!). We will definitely return next time we're in Raton!

The environment is quite enchanting - an 1880s Victorian boarding house turned BNB. The floors are a bit creaky and the bathroom was private for the first floor. Not sure about second floor. The breakfast was hot and prepared for us but I think the coffee could have been stronger and eggs maybe a bit better cooked. Loved the sausage and juice though! Overall, really unique stay and I would recommend. I'm happy they're pet friendly and only charge a $20 fee. The backyard was great for my pup to play around.

The property is stunningly beautiful with a restorative, peaceful vibe. The checkin process was…read moreeasy, and initial communication clear. Staff was smiley and kind, though not very personal. We've been to other B&Bs where the personal touches really made the stay. Our first night, we slept okay. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and was pretty creaky. The pillows are plentiful but all flat pancakes. The water pressure was sad, and it took over 30 minutes to fill above the jets in the tub so we could use it. Also, we checked everywhere for a spare roll of TP when we ran out the second night, but there was none. We also had some trouble with spiders in the tub both mornings. We were greeted at breakfast by the host (never got her name), who was sweet and friendly, but it was clear there was chaos in the kitchen. Both mornings, breakfast was delicious, but it took well over an hour to be served. The second morning it was clear they'd run out of several things, which was disappointing when watching other tables get their food and ours was different and kind of sad by comparison (even though we arrived at 9:15, 45 min before it ends). I totally understand things happen, but when you're a bed and breakfast, the bed should be comfortable and the breakfast should be available quickly and efficiently so you can go about your day. I can see why others have had such wonderful experiences here, and the property truly is gorgeous and relaxing, but overall it was more of a miss for us compared to other places we've stayed.

The rooms were fantastic, comfortable and very clean. I was fortunate enough to have stayed in 2 different rooms, one in the Hacienda (Puerta Azul) and one of the Casitas (Puerta Roja) both were excellent. The food each morning was amazing, fresh and delicious. I've already booked my next stay here and can't wait to get back.

Situated just a mile north of the Taos "hub" Hacienda del Sol is an oasis of tranquility, luxury, and hospitality. The rooms are immaculate (complete with a wood burning fireplace begging to be lit and enjoyed). The grounds are beautifully manicured with local garden decorations and plenty of Adirondack chairs for basking in the sun under Taos Mountain's shadow. You can't paint a better view. Mark and Gerd serve the most delicious of breakfasts each morning. I enjoyed the fruit cup starter with only the freshest fruits, followed by options including French toast, pancakes, biscuits and green chili gravy, cheese omelette, skillet potatoes and eggs, eggs any style, and, of course, bacon. I looked forward to waking up and joining other guests each morning to see what new delicious options we would be offered. I enjoyed the privacy of the individual hot tub times. You can sign up for 30 minute slots throughout the day, 7 days a week, to enjoy an intimate hot tub time with your party. There are some dog-friendly rooms, so bring Fido! They do have some ground rules with the dogs (cannot be left alone in rooms and no sleeping on the bed). Please be respectful guests so that they may continue their hospitality towards canine guests as well. Be sure to bring a crate if you do intend to leave for any amount of time. There are many restaurants just steps from Hacienda del Sol and the staff will be happy to make recommendations or reservations at your request. Within 30 minutes you can be at Taos Ski Valley, Rio Grande Gorge Trails (25 min drive), the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge (12 min drive), downtown (5 min drive), a grocery and liquor store (6 min walk), wine country (40 min drive), and Santa Fe (1hr30 drive). Simply put, we had the most magical experience and cannot wait to make Taos and Hacienda Del Sol an annual vacation spot.

What a quaint bed & breakfast. The grounds and setting are beautiful…read more We arrived in Taos when it was dark. The B&B is directly off the busy main road of Taos. We did not see the Hacienda Del Sol sign the first time and drove past it. We had to turn around. The second time we tried to get to the B&B we turned before the sign and realized we missed it again. Finally on the 3rd try we got to the B&B. The driveway is shared by a restaurant and another B&B. The innkeepers do not live on-site so they left late arrival directions for us. Each unit has its own designated parking space. We were assigned to the El Pueblo unit. It was a room that had a kiva fireplace (which we couldn't use because of the room above us), club chair, small table that contained cups, Keurig maker, ice bucket, coffee, tea and condiments. The bed was comfy with luxury linens, a dresser and two bathrobes. The bathroom was small. Instead of travel size bath products they had full size bottles of bath products. The best part was there are french doors leading to the shared garden/lawn area where you can see the mountains. They have a good sized hot tub for your use. You have to sign up for a private one hour soak. The sign up sheet is located in the kitchen by the coffee makers. Breakfast is served in the dining area right off of the kitchen. There was a lot to choose from. There was a meat & cheese plate, rosemary bread, prosciutto egg cups, chile egg cups, fruit, bacon, baked goods, fresh squeezed OJ, coffee, assorted teas, other things of which I can't remember. There weren't too many people in the dining room so we ate in there. The second morning it was too crowded in the dining room so we ate outside even though it was chilly. We got to talk to the innkeepers Blair and Mike. We found out they had bought the inn only five months ago. They are lovely people. I wish them success with the inn. We didn't have any lodging plans for the next night so we stayed another night at Hacienda Del Sol. The El Pueblo was booked so we moved to the Rio Grande, which was only two doors away. It was more money per night than the El Pueblo but it was worth it. The Rio Grande was much bigger than El Pueblo. Even the bathroom was much bigger. The one drawback of the B&B was how dark the grounds were at night. Some of the stones in the pathway were broken or missing. All in all we enjoyed this B&B.
