This monthly traveling market happened to take place a weekend I was visiting the city and as a friend informed, it's where local designers and craftsmen mix with the cultured and well-fashioned public. For those with indie and hipster sensibilities, you'll be relieved to know that La Lonja speaks your language. The many vendors ranged from shoemakers to bag-makers and mezcal producers to watch designers - not to mention the gorgeous array of dining and bedroom textiles (colorful pillowcases and vibrant table cloths). I found the amazing creator of Boca MMXII watches, I now have 2 pairs from their awesome collection, and a handful of merchants selling one-of-a-kind capes, blouses, and jewelry. Just as much attention as the Lonja team puts into the retailers it selects, they put into the venue as well. The space that houses this avant-garde market is gorgeous in it's own right. Despite the fact that the fair moves to new locations regularly, you can always catch the most up-to-date location info on the website. Tip: a lot (if not all) of the vendors accept credit/debit payments and there's often some kind of food and beverage option from similarly cool vendors.
