I took videos and photos to share with family and friends of how beautiful it was. The owners are very nice and welcoming. Also, I wanted to share that after 3 days of leaving this place I noticed that a pair of gold earrings where missing. We contacted the Villa Merida, since that was the last place I remember I had them. The owner responded quickly to let us know that he will be asking the staff. After few days and we were already back home (LA), the owner contacted us to let us know that the earrings were found and that he would help us to have them back. Most shipping companies don't allow you to send gold, we also, don't know or have friends in that city so to get them back was complicated. Finally, the owner found out that one woman that was staying at the Villa, was a flight attendant living in LA. He contacted us immediately to see if we were OK, to have them returned with her. I can't thank enough the owners of the Villa Merida for everything. We will definitely return and recommend this place.

I just returned from a vacation to Merida, Mexico- my first time visit to this area of the Yucatan…read more I didn't know what to expect when I arrived at Ochenta y Dos Bed and Breakfast, admittedly, I did not research accommodations since my travel partner made all the arrangements. As soon as our Uber pulled up, I was impressed by the technology of the security system; but don't let this intimidate you, Merida is one of the safest places in Mexico to visit. As soon as we arrived, I received the warmest welcome from our host, Dave. If the welcome was any indication of things to come, I knew I was in for a great time. Once we settled in, we had a chance to meet our other host, Patrick, who was equally welcoming. We sat and talked with them and met the three dogs- Max, MoMo, and Milo. We got to know a little history of how the place came to be and was very impressed with how Dave & Pat made their dream of Ochenta y Dos come to fruition (and glad they did). When you walk into Ochenta y Dos, you are blown away by the architectural beauty. In the center of the complex is an oasis- a pool fed by a cenote and warmed to a perfect temperature and surrounded by beautiful tropical plants. Chaises and umbrellas are positioned around the pool- a perfect place to read a book. Speaking of which, Dave, who is also an author, has a few of his books for sale on site (I bought both and I can't wait to read)! The pool also is big enough to swim laps or relax on a pool float. Our room was perfectly decorated with all the amenities you could need including a mini refrigerator, coffee machine, sink, cups, silverware, hairdryer, etc. And then came the walk-in shower... oh my goodness! A very open, expansive area with a rain shower head, surrounded by tropical plants and open sky above (screened to prevent bugs)- it felt like you were taking a shower in the jungle. On the rooftop terrace, there are many seating options: chaises, sofa, fire pit, tables with chairs, bar, kitchen area- there is even a workout room! Breakfast was delicious- eggs with spinach, peppers and onions, hashbrowns, fresh fruit with Greek yogurt and honey, and homemade banana bread that was to die for! When it came time to venture into town, Dave, who is also a travel guide, recommended a wonderful restaurant, Trattoria Di Alfredo. Overall, I would highly recommend Ochenta y Dos to anyone traveling to Merida (or the surrounding area). I will definitely be back to visit and see my new friends, Dave and Pat.

The room has a large bathroom with a great shower. A few steps away from our room is the pool. It felt great to take a dip after a long day of sightseeing. This charming B&B has lots of areas to sit, relax and take in the experiences of the day. We highly recommend Casa Ochenta y Dos.
