On the day we finished the Camino Ingles, we checked into the Parador and then went looking for our mid-afternoon Galician Lunch. There are a lot of places to eat near the Cathedral, so we wandered around a bit. Finally, a very hungry Gayle stated that we should just pick someplace, which ended up to be Casa Camilo.
When dining within a small plaza, we learned that there are usually more than 1 restaurant with outside tables there, and paying attention to whose belong to who is important. We also took notice of who had the empty tables. After a little hit and miss, we finally matched up our nice table to Casa Camilo, which was doing a brisk business, and had a few good seating options left.
First, there was a bit of sticker shock. Starting in Ferol and walking through villages and small cities, our Spanish lunches (including a full bottle of wine) where relatively cheap. Now were were in the big city, and the prices followed accordingly. Yet our meal was a very welcome stop for these 2 "parched and famished" Pellegrinos.
Aside from our general intent to eat Galician (e.g. seafood) while here (and usually squid being one of our choices), I can't remember what we ordered, nor did I take any pictures. All Gayle and I remember was that our meal was very good (but not "Wow"), that we had a nice time together, the service was attentive, and we left happy and not too full. read more
