Casa Bonomi is probably the pioneer in artisan bread making in BH. It is located near Savassi, in a beautiful old house with wooden floors and large windows. They have a nice selection of breads, pastries and cakes. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a long communal table and a few individual ones. On weekends, they put tables outside too. Great French bakery and coffee house. On weekend mornings there will be people waiting outside for it to open, either to enjoy a sit-down breakfast or to pick up some of the fresh bread. The interior is very tasteful and has an Earth-ly, natural feel (wood, flowers). It occupies a narrow corner building so the windows on opposite sides keep a nice breeze going. Inside there are several smaller tables and one large communal one. There is also plenty of outdoor seating under trees, and a canopy. If there were any negatives, it would be that inside the seats are not very comfy and that the (classical) music is playing a bit on the loud side. It definitely is not cheap but the service is great and the food is delightful. We shared a perfect croissant and a delicious sandwich. The place is centrally located between Savassi and Funcionários neighborhoods, where avenidas Alfonso Pena and Getúlio Vargas meet. There's on-street parking in rua Claudio Manuel. read more
