As someone exploring bankruptcy for the first time, I expected the consultation to be more informative and guided. Instead, I felt like I was expected to know exactly what questions to ask, which defeats the purpose of seeking a consultation in the first place. One of the main reasons I contacted this firm was because their website suggests they assist with student loan issues. Unfortunately, I left the consultation without receiving any meaningful guidance on that topic or on my overall financial situation. What made the experience more disappointing was that I later had a consultation with another bankruptcy firm that lasted about 45 minutes. They took the time to understand my circumstances, explain my options, and answer questions I didn't even know to ask. The difference was night and day. When I requested a refund, it was denied. While I understand they have a nonrefundable policy, I do not believe the service I received justified the fee. I would recommend speaking with multiple firms before paying for a consultation from this company.

I asked to work with someone else as I felt as if my concerns were not be addressed. I have since had a case worker since the paralegal and she is no more help than the paralegal. I have talked to her once on the phone, several times by email, mostly me asking questions. No updates, no steps taken, told I would hear back as they were reaching out to defense. Nothing at all. -felt as if I have not be heard and not professionally been taken serious.

After receiving several letters from lawyers, I decided to call a few and see what my options were and which prices were the best. Of the maybe 4-5 places I called, this firm was the most friendly and personable. Definitely plus that they also had the cheapest price. A couple days after gathering quotes I decided that I would go with Cotten Law Firm. I was able to go online and look up my case number and pay my fees all at once. Once I paid and electronically signed to allow Mr. Cotten to represent me, I was e-mailed a case number for the firm and a receipt. The day before my court date I received an e-mail and phone call from the firm to get more of my personal information to pull my driving record. That was also a pleasant and friendly interaction as well. I was told that Mr. Cotten would e-mail me the results the next day after going to court on my behalf. Around 1:30 on the day of my court date I received an e-mail from Mr. Cotten himself with the results. My ticket was reduced to an "Improper Equipment" charge! My insurance won't be affected and neither will my driving record. Such a relief! Since I paid upfront he also handled the court costs and fines as well. I didn't have to go to court or even to the office at all. There's also an option to pay for his services upfront and then you can handle your court costs within 30 or so days of your court date if you can't afford it all at once, which is great. He did a good job of coaching me through the hearing and tracking paperwork to meet all deadlines. I was denied partly because my MD didn't properly document my case, causing the judge to reject his testimony. Luckily I asked to see a neuropsychologist when I noticed problems with loss in my short term visual memory and this led to a diagnosis social security accepted and won the case. The office is a bit dated and I would have appreciated more information with tips on applying for SSA disability benefits on a website so that I could do more to help the case. I also would have appreciated them checking the second MD's notes at the beginning of care to make sure the new doctor was properly documenting my disabilities in case the neuropsych testing wasn't conclusive so that I could be alerted if a problem existed and get the doctor to comply or switch doctors. I wasn't aware that so much was depending on them and I think that without the testing I'm not sure the second MD's notes were adequate to ensure I wouldn't be stuck appealing the case past the 4 years I already had to wait for a favorable decision. This was too important not to mention and I'm taking a star away for it. There was a couple of emails that weren't answered but generally they were good about staying in communication. Their advice was good and I liked working with them.
