Instead, Scott misdiagnosed the issue and performed an unnecessary repair that ultimately caused additional damage to my car. Within 24 hours of leaving the service, all of the oil had leaked out due to an incorrectly installed part. As a result, I had to take my car to another mechanic, who was able to properly diagnose and fix the problem--something Scott was unable to do. When I contacted Scott to explain the situation and request a refund, he initially refused. After pressing the issue, he said he would "get back to me," but never did. I made multiple attempts to reach him via phone and text, all of which were ignored. I have still not received a refund and am now pursuing further action to address the damages caused. This was an extremely frustrating and costly experience. I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere.

When they returned, I explained what had happened and they promised to address it. Needless to say, they NEVER did. Also, the mechanic who called me these things was completely wrong. Furthermore, the work had gotten quite sloppy over the years. They returned my car to me and the panel under the steering column dropped off in my lap while driving. Of course I took it right back. They repaired it but should have never occurred. There were other issues albeit minor over the years, but it all added up. Basically what they lost was my trust and that of the other people I'd referred to them. Jamie specifically texted me that he had the worst first quarter ever in this current year of 2020. Maybe the way his shop handles customers is part of the loss. Everything cannot be blamed on Covid-19! It appeared that on a recent estimate, price gouging was the new order of the day. My family and I were…read morereturning home after a long, hot weekend of kids soccer in the Philly area when my 2016 Jeep started overheating on the New York Thruway in Nanuet. It was late Sunday afternoon on a 95-degree day and we were 200 miles from home. I found a way to get my wife and two boys a ride home, and I checked into a local hotel while I figured out what to do with my broken car. In the morning, I was waiting at the shop when it opened at 8. This was a classic emergency situation -- I'm stranded far from home -- where a shop could have totally put me over a barrel and diagnosed all sorts of problems, and I'm sure many would have. Not J&M. They got my car in immediately, and had expertly diagnosed the problem (a failed radiator cooling fan) within an hour. Jay, who is as friendly as can be, explained the situation and said his local parts folks did not have a replacement unit. However, another distributor in New Jersey did have an OEM replacement and have it in Nanuet by 10:30 or 11. Jay's mechanic had to literally tear the entire front of my car apart to replace the bad fan. Jay texted me photos. Then they had the repair done by 1:30 p.m. The price was totally reasonable and what I would expect, and Jay even took pains to show me how much he paid for the part. This is a business you can trust, in my experience. My only regret is that Jay's shop is not located in my town because, if it were, he would be working on all my cars, all the time. I know about cars and thought that seemed way expensive. I left to get a second appraisal. I drove to Hackensack Spring in NJ, a highly competent suspension specialist who I have used for over 40 years. Total cost $175. For both sides, including parts and labor. The result? oh we will look at it and fix it, must of missed it, because when you walk in -- Mavis Discount Tire Nanuet actually work on appointments. So hey we fixed the flat but you need brake pads (indeed i did), we fixed the flat but you need all four new tires (Indeed I did). We will take a 3 day later, closer look why the tire sensor went off again, oh and you need new shock absorbers the current 2016, 8 year old original shocks need replacing they are leaking (Indeed I did). I drive this car 70 miles a day RT #Brooklyn NYC on the FDR. This coming weekend I will be happy motoring to the Cape and Islands, MA truly w/o doubt, worry or fear thanks to this team at Mavis Discount Tire! Highly recommend.
