I was taken here for a birthday lunch I would rather forget. The staff in the bar and the bar menu seemed perfectly pleasant and I might even be able to convinced to give the bar another shot.
The restaurant, on the other hand...
First of all, we were only allowed to order from the incredibly overpriced restaurant menu whilst the table next to us - a large party - was allowed to order from the bar menu that had a better selection of food and was significantly cheaper.
The waitress was unacceptable. Flirting with my uncle when she first came to the table, she then became rude and distant, and frankly looked untidy. She then convinced us that the salad and bread my uncles' chose wasn't enough for four people and coerced my uncle into getting another item for entree.
There was, of course, more than enough salad and bread for four people.
My Mount Franklin mineral water (roughly 2.50 everywhere else) was $6 at this place. That really agitated me.
My main of gnocchi with pine nuts and tomato was really pine nuts with some lumps of what could be clay and a couple of tomatos. I ordered the main since I wasn't interested in the entree selection, and the portion size was poor, and the meal so bad that I wish I'd gotten the entree size to save money. My mother's fish was limp in its own oil and grease.
I skipped dessert and my uncle had a coffee-alcohol and ice cream combination that he has had for less than half the price overseas, and it was nicer.
The local paper gave the restaurant a glowing review. The food is barely edible, the prices outrageous and the service disgusting. read more
