I have to say that I would still rather go to Cabot Circus rather than Cabot Carpets however, if you do need a carpet at least at Cabot Carpets you'll find a huge showroom and may find what you're looking for without having to go and compare in lots of other shops. A man from CC's came and measured up our office space, and rather than try and sell us a more expensive carpet, pointed us in the direction of an equally good cheaper one - it's a shame not all salesman aren't like that!

The store does still however maintain a fairly good atmosphere although it was really quiet when we went in and I believe we were r=the only customers.They have a really good selection of both leather and fabric sofas which are fairly well priced. The sales people in this store can be a little pushy and can leave you feeling a bit stressed. with this store you have to pay for delivery and its not always quoted with the price of the furniture so its worth checking on that.

The owner was amazing though, talked me through how it all works and came round and measured our house and priced up for several carpet types in each room. The only problem was that we couldn't have any samples left behind to umm and ahh over until we made a decision. We didn't get anything fitted by them, not because we didn't trust their business, but just because we found something elsewhere we preferred.

I generally find the furniture in Laura Ashley to be incredibly pretty, though perhaps a little too twee for some people. I particularly like their gilded mantelpiece mirrors, which look like they've come straight out of a Venetian Palazzo, and at around £300 they're pricey, but nothing compared to the cost of an original. They also have a small clothing selection, which in my opinion does not really contain many of the best pieces, so if you're after clothing I'd head to their town store instead. I do have a slight problem with this Laura Ashley in terms of their staff. For starters their never seems enough of them, and I also find it's rather hard to get their attention. Bear this in mind when visiting.

Their bedding department offers well known brands at discount prices, I assume that perhaps they are old styles but they offer value for money. They have a geat selection of cushions, I am sure you would find just the right shape and colour in their huge stock. It can get quite busy, and there always seems to be a large queue at the tills the till layout is not the best. But they've even got a small coffee shop if you fancy a sit down. The shop seemed crowded and a little disorganised but they do sell some really nice carpets. the store also arranges delivery and fitting so its nice and easy to buy here. They also managed to ruin our newly painted hall stairs and landing by leaving marks up the walls all the way to the second floor. Like so many Portishead businesses they haven't a clue about client facing work and instead of apologising and offering some solution the woman in the shop kept raising her voice and talking over me defending their fitters as i tried to explain the problem. She refused to visit my home to see the evidence and have yet to offer to fix the paintwork. I shall just go elsewhere from now on, and am reluctant to use local traders because Portishead people just don't know how to do business.
