This is a really cool building which houses artists studios. It also opens to the public…read morefrequently to have receptions and showcase its artists' work. The building is somewhat industrial-looking, like a warehouse/small factory converted into art studios. The mastermind behind this conversion, a thin, charming gray-haired man with glasses (I can't remember his name!) is an artist himself and crafted the enormous sliding doors to each artist's studio. Each door is custom, unique and impressive. It utilizes ordinary and construction materials in sort of a flat, yet dimensional sculpture. The lighting is professional. The building's exterior has few opaque walls, and uses tinted windows from floor to ceiling in most cases. The artists featured here are all either aspiring or actual professional artists. I find most of them to be very talented. The famous MIssouri water-colorist Paul Jackson maintains a space here. Come here on a weekend during the art crawls, or artrageous friday's or whenever this place opens its doors. There's usually free wine and cheese and you can talk to the artists (and maybe buy their work!).

They also have an awesome lounge area that turns into a stage for all kids of performances. We came in and purchase a $15 wrist band that got us free pinball games and a comedy show at 9pm! I was in awe! The place is brand new, super clean bathrooms and an awesome venue. They do only serve canned beverages, but they had quite the selection. Amazing spot to check out!

I've never done a 'paint and wine' thing before, but I had a blast! Canvas on Broadway supplies the necessary paint tools, paint, canvas, easel, aprons, and an instructor to create the themed painting. Beer and wine are available for what I'd consider reasonable prices. The music mix was a total great--the genre varied and everyone was having a good time. I started to follow along, but then went off and painted my own thing, and the instructor was encouraging and kind about it. Another woman would walk around and pick up dirty brushes out of the water jar and drop off fresh brushes. Both were very friendly, so service gets an A! The venue itself is fantastic. Big, open space, plenty of places to sit and hang your personal belongings, good elbow room, all around really great. I even noticed there's a sectioned off private area that will seat a decent sized party for a private event, which was pretty cool! If you ever want to venture out and try one of these "paint and wine" places, The Canvas on Broadway was a great first!

If you have ever seen the show "Dance mom's" that's exactly what most of the mom's here are like. I do not agree in putting make up or fake hair on 3-4 year olds for pictures or performances and 98% of them do! VERY snotty place! Teaches the girls to start getting into clicks at an early age. I have seen mom's yell at their daughter's for "Not trying their hardest" they are little kids!! It is ridiculous!!!

I have only been there once, but sometimes you know it when you see it. And this place is a unique gem. Maybe it's not what you'd call "remodeled" or "passes city codes", but it has withstood the test of time good enough for me, and it seem to have an the kind of unpretentiousness where people there don't use big words or anything. My point is, it's not a place that is summed up in a yelp review very well. You sort of have to go there to see it. Some history of Lupus. In 1993 there was like a 100 or 200 year flood, and the town was under 3 feet of water. They got some FEMA money to raise all the houses up like 10 feet. Literally. So you know you're in the right town when you see houses on stilts. Getting to Lupus is quite a drive, but I would say it's a good destination trip. The general store is the second to last building on the left as you head down main street towards the river. If you get to the railroad crossing, you've gone too far. The last building on the right is the city hall. The town has about 40 people in it. Cover is $7 donation, and there is usually a jam afterwards, so bring you instrument if you so desire. Oh yea, the store is also an antique place, and so if you need a player piano, or a kerosine lamp, this is the place for you. Also, this place gets a spot on my best bathrooms list. Enough said.
