I've been remiss in not submitting a review of our experience at the Cutter Inn sooner... The…read morebottom line, it was an excellent experience! Kirsty (manager) and her staff were outstanding and did an excellent job under a challenging request. My wife and I were in search of a pub/restaurant that could provide food for a group of 15 persons, within 24 hours, and much later at night. The reason for the short notice was another Turkish establishment in Ely, who shall remain nameless and which we will never patron ever again, canceled on us. When we reached out to Kirsty and her staff, and explained our predicament, they were very understanding and professional. They not only accommodated our group, but the food had been previously coordinated in advance and we did not have to wait long for it, and it was very delicious. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND DINING HERE IF YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY!

It happens to all of us. You miss the train and suddenly you have an hour to kill in a station…read morethat isn't very warm or hospitable (as Ely's is). So you ask someone where the nearest pub is and they direct you to the Cutter. A proper old English pub with modern sensibilities. Had a decent curry, which they put together for me quickly as by the time we had gotten there (15 minute walk from the station) we only had 30 minutes there before we had to start making our way back to the station. Grabbed a pint, ate my curry somewhat leisurely, and sauntered back to the station. We really should have moved faster, as we got there 2 minutes before our train arrived and almost missed it again! :-) Next time I'm here I'll stay a bit longer, for sure.

Frustrating and very disappointed on our day trip to No Hurry in…read more Arrived there at 13:00 with our person supported 2x wheelchair user . Serving food only at the garden which is great because its sunny. Found a bench we can seat on. GOT IGNORED multiple times and no signs for what to do when you want order. After 20 mins seating and looking like a thwat we manage to ask where can we order. She told us that they are not taking orders for the next 30 mins, then proceed to walk away no explanation after that. Sooooo rude!!!! Eventually we catch the attention of one of the young waitress, ordered drinks and she kindly explained why can't we order food. She said to wait for 15 mins then hand us the menu upon my colleague request. After waiting for 1hr and 30mins and finishing our drinks we decided to just leave. Felt ignore, discriminate at and very hungry. Within the times we were waiting new costumers coming in and staff are accomodating them, asking for their orders and bring out FOOD. We visit and eat here a lot before the pandemic start because of the scenery, food and staff accomodating dietary needs. This might be the very last day that i will take our person supported.

The pub is really cosy, the staff welcoming and friendly (very important) and the food was excellent - will definitely be stumbling upon this delightfully hidden establishment again!

Merry Monk - Fillet of Hake best seafood I have ever had. That is saying a lot being that I lived in Florida for 4 and a half years!

The serving sizes are more than enough for the price you are paying! I would venture to say that this is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at in the country of England, and I do not forecast that decision changing! Weather you want a beautiful dinner for two, breakfast in the morning with a great cup of coffee or tea, or you want to bring a massive party in for catering, the Merry Monk is sure to make you leave feeling full, happy, and satisfied. If you are like myself you will leave thinking and planning about your next visit and how fast you hope it happens!

We have been there several times now and have never been anything but impressed and satisfied when we came away. Food, staff, atmosphere is all terrific as you would expect. We are going to have our after wedding celebration here in June this year as we liked it so much. Adrian the chef / owner is a great down to earth guy who will do anything for you so you get exactly what you expect from the day. As for kids meals, we did ask, and yes it's the usual chicken goujons or fish fingers, but these are made with chicken breast and fillets of cod, not reconstituted cr*p. The food here is without doubt about quality, that is not to say that presentation and portion size has been compromised in any way.
