I had two pairs of trousers with broken zips. I had been meaning to get them fixed for a few weeks but hadn't had the opportunity. My lady was getting impatient - apparently there is a limited amount of time that she's willing to be seen with me sporting a pair of Decathlon walking trousers (but they're timeless classics!) that are slightly too short for me. Cue a visit to Smart City Tailors by me, less than two hours before their closing time. Could they help? Just one pair of trousers with a new zip would help. Rubbish sir, we'll fix both pairs. And we won't charge you extra however much you protest. Just pop back later before we close. I did, and you know the rest: last night a tailor saved my life from a broken heart. I believe they offer other services too.

They…read morespecialise in suits (Saville Row-esque in terms of their individual tailoring) but do plenty of womenswear and other formal wear. I went in with a friend who was fitted with a shirt and a gorgeous skirt when she got a really good job, and needed to look the part. The shop was deserted but looked really plush. All red, and with an old school looking motorbike as decoration with various garments hung up along the back. The lone sales assistant was very polite and helpful. It really did feel like 5 star treatment, but lets face it we were probably the only customers in that day - if not that week. Prices are steep. For one of their mens Pink Label suit prices START at £850 but you are getting something that will fit perfectly and last for ages. Drapers recognises the exceptional service that Nicholas Jones provides. Good quality fabrics, stylish and sensible garments - real grown up clothes. I'm not quite ready for my fitting yet but one day I will be.

A perfectly positioned launderette also offering an ironing service at reasonable rates…read more You will find The Steamie on Milnrow Road in Shaw just before the Wrens Nest bus terminal. When we moved to the area we were regulars at The Steamie and sometimes we were taking 3 or 4 bags of laudry over. For those 3 or 4 bags we were charged just £10.70, admittedly we provided our own powder and softner but even so this was a very good price. Don't forget that includes drying and you are not having to sit there doing it all yourself. You can of course do it all by yourself and The Steamie has numerous washers and dryers to accomodate all. There is a drinks machine for those who are staying for any length of time. Whats more is that The Steamie also offers an ironing service and they quoted us £11 for 30 garments. Again this is most reasonable in my opinion. I have only ever seen one girl in there but she has always been nice and pleasant whenever i have spoken to her. I even think that The Steamie delivers your washing/drying/ironing!!
