Don't let the fact that it's a municipal course slow you down. This is the nicest muni I've ever played. It's a Donald Ross design so it's a classic! Richard who runs the inProShop is great and has an answer for every one of your questions. They have a driving range, chipping area & separate putting green. All are in great condition. You will love the wide open fairways! The tee boxes are in great condition & large. They have tee positions that will suit every level of play. Most of the greens were in really good shape. There were maybe three or four that had bare spots but not unusual given the weather. They have GPS on the carts. They had rain the night before so many of the holes were 90 degree or 'cart path only' You will get a beep top and a nasty gram if you try to defeat the guidelines. As a Senior on a Monday, I got a great rate of $48 bucks for 18 holes with cart. It's a course I highly recommend!

I was feeling a little intimidated about playing this course after reading a lot of other reviews…read moreon various web sites. Especially about the amount of water and the severe doglegs. I found none of that to be true. I guess it's all relative right? Water does come into play on #8 which is a 115 yard par 3 over water. The balance of the water they refer to are either ponds that run alongside the fairway or creeks you may encounter that cross the fairway. Overall this is a very nice course and plays very well. The Fairways and Greens are in great shape for the most part. On hole #16 there is a strip of new sod that runs all the way across the green. For the most part the tee boxes were all green and in good shape. There were a few that were bare with little grass. It's very scenic and quiet, lots of wildlife and the fairways are wide open with strategic bunkers on most holes. It was 10/8/20 and the high was 85 but it was sunny and a nice breeze and just a perfect day for golf in the Carolinas! They have 2 driving ranges and a practice putting green. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was $35 bucks to ride 18 for the Senior rate which is a great value for a course of this caliber. The carts are electric and all in good repair. They won't let you take the cart into the parking lot so it's best to drop your bag and then park. I would highly recommend this course.

The course is poorly managed. We played on 07/07/2026. They had a starter on the first tee (# 10…read morebecause they were working on the front 9) and that was it, there wasn't a ranger to be seen all day. By the time we got to # 6 there was 4 different groups on the same hole. When we finished 9 we went into the club house and asked if we could play the same 9 again. The lady working was nice enough to allow us to do that. 3 holes into the back 9 and now there are 3 different groups on the same hole. Several of the fairways were in bad shape. They will not have to worry about wasting my money on their course again. Whoever is responsible for running that course should be fired and replaced by someone that knows how a golf course should be run. To run a course in this manner tells you it's nothing more than a money grab and they could care less about you having a good experience. The only reason I give them 2 stars is because the greens are in pretty good shape.

This course is #3 on the B-Man's guide to the top 10 Charlotte area golf courses. It's a good course but a #3 seems overrated to me. Understanding it's February so granted, not ideal conditions. Still a problem when you have more than half an entire green surface under repair. You get only one Par 3 on the front and two on the back. The fairways are wide open and forgiving. The tee boxes all in good repair. You get the computerized electric golf carts. The check-in and Staff was smooth and everyone was nice. The bar/restaurant experience was good. As a Senior golfer, you get considerable tee advantage on most all of the holes. There is water but it doesn't come into play. They had patrolling Ranger maintaining pace of play. It is literally right adjacent to the Speedway. On several holes, you can see the Grandstands. I think you want to avoid this place on race day.

The clubhouse and range where nice, but it was not until I rolled some putts on the putting green that my hopes started to rise. They had bent grass that was smooth and blazing fast. The staff were all great. Very friendly and everything you'd hope for at any level course. The course is fantastic. I'd say it has about 3 semi weak holes and even those were fun to play. The overall condition was excellent. The green were amazingly good. The sand in some of the green side bunkers were just ok, but in every other respect this track was so enjoyable to play. The views were stunning. My only regret was my choice of tees. I'm a low handicap senior. I chose the blue tees, which would have been fine with summer roll, but the course proved a bit too tough for me given the softer fall / winter conditions. Don't make my stupid mistake. I can't wait to return to this terrific golf course.

I've accompanied a member here twice now and wish we had something similar to this closer to Charlotte. First things first: For all intents and purposes, this is a private club. You either need to be a member or be with a member at all times while you're here. They recently installed a fence at the entrance that you have to either swipe a pass or enter a code to for entry, but on the weekends it's typically open, with the "Members Only" signs posted beside the gate. As far as the range, it's the best-case scenario. They have a 200 Yard rifle range and 21 pistol bays (split between large and small pistol, with some bays outfitted with steel plates and others where you mount paper targets). There is no Range Safety Officer present, hence why prior approval is not only required, it's a necessity. You (or the member that brought you) are responsible for your safety and treating your guns safely. That being said, for those comfortable and experienced with guns and gun safety, shooting outdoors without a third party looking over your shoulder is much more relaxing. New membership is limited, and from their website it looks like they're at full capacity, as the number of new members is based on current members that fail to renew. Keep this in mind that you'll be on a wait list if you do want to apply for membership. While I can't get up here all the time due to the distance (and the fact that I have to rely on a friend whose dad is a member to gain entry), I always enjoy my time up here.

It's a private club (my father has been a member for the better part of ten years) so the first thing you notice is the gate out front of the entrance. You need a badge to get in most days so it keeps random folks from just walking in and horsing around a gun range. Next thing up the drive is the fishing pond. Really lake would be a better descriptor, there's tons of shoreline to stand on and cast off. Follow the road a little further and to your left is the archery range and one set of the pistol ranges. I haven't personally used the archery range but the pistol stalls are quite nice. Six for paper targets only and two on the end with steel target plates, all with a nice wooden benches/tables. Opposite side of the road are the skeet shooting stations. Wednesday seems to be the popular day to go shoot clay pigeons. Continuing down the road the clubhouse is on the right, rifle range on the left. Rifle range consists of maybe a dozen different bays varying at ranges of 50, 100, and 200 yards. Beyond that and all the way down the left side of the road are more than a dozen additional pistol ranges. The place always seems well maintained and I've never had a problem with the staff or other members. Look them up if your trying to find a great place for some outdoorsy fun.
