They are a TEMP AGENCY, and will blow hot smoke up your rear while offering you "temporary to hire" positions that are merely seasonal telemarketing gigs at one of the most disorganized and unprofessional call centers I've ever worked at. Like many misleading employers, they circumvent basic employee benefits (overtime, medical, sick pay and all the other things the American labor movement merely spilt their blood over a half century ago) by hiring people as "independent contractors' (1099 tax status). This would not be a problem if we were actually self employed, but we're obviously not. What really makes this a reprehensible hiring practice is that PEOPLE ARE TOLD THESE ARE TEMPORARY POSITIONS JUST TO START, and that THEY LEAD TO PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT. Then you are filled with all this rhetoric about how GREAT of an opportunity this is and how this is the start to a career path in an administrative setting. This couldn't be further from the truth, and does irreparable damage to those without formal education who thought that they have, through employment with this TEMP AGENCY, finally found a career that isn't in the service industry. Many of my coworkers during my time at this agency truly believed that the telemarketing position they were hired for was permanent and thus ignored other legitimate career opportunities to stay with this job, believing that doing so would be their way out of low paying service industry employment. In addition, a lot of these people would commute nearly 2 hours on public transportation to make their way to the Call Center under the pretense that enduring these really strenuous circumstances would lead to something else. It wont. Legitimate corporate employers really dont care much temp. sales positions on a CV or resume, so basically in that regards its worthless. I just can't get over how many people were lied to on a daily basis at this Call Center and at this TEMP AGENCY with promises of starting their office careers when in reality they were just seasonal telemarketing employees. If you're looking for a job and thought you finally found a nice office job doing data entry, keep looking. Please, and don't waste your time. Keep searching for a permanent position that gives you a W-9 tax form to file and don't swallow their garbage.

I had registered with the Carney Group years ago and I'm sad to say they aren't what they used to…read morebe. I suppose this is related to the generally declining job market. OK - I can accept that. I went expecting an interview but discovered it was essentially a cattle call. There were about 10 others in a conference room to complete paperwork. Most of them were women that were very casually dressed. Interestingly, the one gentleman (friendly, older in a suit) was almost immediately pulled out of the room and pushed thru the process. We had to listen to a half hour explanation of how the process worked, along with job hunting tips. All good information - but mostly common sense, and quite repetitive. It was way too long a presentation for the information that was supplied. I almost had the feeling that they were stalling till the next round of interviewers were ready. Once I got to my one-on-one (the person who was supposed to listen to me and evaluate my needs and capabilities) it deteriorated even further. I don't think she had the time or inclination to take a good look at my resume, and I don't feel she was listening to me. Why would she recommend a part-time or temp job to someone who is currently employed? Why would she even bring up a job that is $7 an hour less than my existing job. Honestly, I think it is as Todd W says - that they mostly have low-paying temp jobs. Twice I mentioned that I had seen a job on their website that I was interested in, but she just kept on saying "we'll get to that later". I think "What about it interested you?" would have been a more helpful, revealing response. Now, I understand that they can't recommend me for a job they don't have. But I feel that once it was apparent to her that I wasn't looking for the type of positions they have, she couldn't wait to get me out of the office and get on to the next candidate. Also, I felt there was a pathetically transparent, entirely false, attempt at being "Corporate Upbeat". Which, unfortunately, I take as an indication of masking an exaggerated sense of success and importance. I recall two people saying "And you'll meet XXXXX Carney" with the same reverence normally reserved for the Pope. I must say I did get a few resume/interview suggestions that I will take to heart but, in the end my feeling is "For this I shaved my legs?" ;-)

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS* Prior to starting my…read morecontract, there was a lot of lack of communication and follow through. My start date was delayed from Monday to Wednesday then to Thursday because the "IT department had to create an account". I didn't understand why this was an issue and advocated for myself to start Wednesday. After lots of push back, they somehow managed to make it work. I signed a contract with them to work at a local, pediatric office. After 2 weeks working there, no tardies nor issues, excellent performance, I was informed by the practice manager that they no longer could continue with my contract because I was a CNA and not a CMA. I immediately called GHR to find out what it was all about because I was confused and hurt. The lady, Susan, I spoke with confessed that she knew for a few days but didn't tell me because she was "working on finding other opportunities". Being out of a job, you think that's vital information to communicate, but she didn't care to tell me. The next day, Friday, I was told to expect my first paycheck. I filled out my time card and submitted it on time, got confirmation from Gloria that it was received, but never paid. I followed up that morning and was told to "take a breath" and that it was "no problem". She even said they could do a manual transfer, but that turned out to be an empty promise. Not being paid may not be a huge deal for these people who work from home, but it's a big deal to me. I was told I would receive a call from Gloria. She said she had work calls until 4:00pm but would call me right afterwards. At 8:30pm, Gloria texted me saying she had a work emergency that she had to take care of but that I would receive my check on Monday. She said if I still wanted a call that I could reach out on Monday. Well, it's Monday and they are not returning my calls, texts, nor emails and I haven't been paid. I've forwarded my issues to a supervisor so hopefully I'll get some answers. As I was told on the phone Friday, "you know you're not our only clinician, right?". I understand this, but hope this review will help other clinicians not get involved with this unprofessional, careless, and rude company. Fingers crossed I'll get paid before legal action is taken

New address: 2868 Dekalb Pike East Norriton, PA. Now for the review: Manpower is a multibillion-dollar temporary agency that will make NO effort whatsoever to place you where you can best make both THEM and YOU the most money. My friends and I have worked for these guys in VA, AZ, KS, MO, and currently PA, and the issues I am describing occurred in all of these places. You will need to push, and push HARD to get a good job from these clowns. Those good jobs exist, and Manpower has them, but whatever job they first dump you into on day one tends to be where they dump you forever. The only way to avoid this pigeonholing is for you to push for the better job openings at the end of every single crap job they send you on. Expect to move some furniture or stand at a conveyor belt- more than once. This will take a few weeks or months. Keep in mind that once you DO get that good job you wanted, and you do well at it, you will receive insulting surprised comments about your superior job performance from the MP staff for YEARS to come. What this says about MP is not good. Despite their enormous cash flow, MP is completely unable to pay you consistently on time. If you are looking at temp work because you are living paycheck to paycheck, MP won't cut it If you are lucky, 3 out of 4 checks will be on time. The fourth may be days or even weeks late. The record as far as I know in East Norriton PA was 6 weeks, which, thank God, wasn't my problem. They will blame pay issues on "those payroll jerks in Kentucky", on server problems, on late-submitted paperwork from your jobsite (which you will be able to easily prove from the fax records on the jobsite is a complete lie), you name the excuse, you will hear the excuse many, many times from your local office. After 5 years on the same 40hrs a week job, I still deal with pay issues, and it's inexcusable The truth of the matter is that for whatever reason, MP corporate has serious payroll issues EVERYWHERE on a constant basis.
