Newly renovated, and now looking spectacular, this is a jewel of a theological library…read more A great collection of periodicals, books and other materials supporting the mission of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. The staff is really terrific, they were helpful in answering all my questions and helped me find the resources I needed. The renovation includes a few surprises, for example, an active learning room that features treadmills, so that readers can exercise while they read or study. There is also a beautiful room dedicated to children and families, a nice tribute to Fred Rogers, who graduated from the Seminary. Community members are welcome to come read or look up information in the library, however a library card should be purchased for an annual $30 fee if you want to check out materials. A beautiful building with dramatic skylights, a fantastic learning resource!

I would encourage you to find out about the hundreds of events they host at the Seminary, it's hard to even keep up with them. Although many of the lectures are geared toward ministers, there's lots to choose from if you are a layperson, too. There are even occasional musical concerts, as well. My favorite are the archaeology lectures, which are free and open to the public. The library has lots of books on religion, and the staff there are very friendly and helpful. It's a 13-acre campus which is lined with trees and beautiful spaces. There's lots to explore here.

The staff was also so willing to assist me with a coat drive collection this last November! Dormont Library is a wonderful place for community and a great place for any research project and study. But this is a very inviting space and the staff are always very helpful. They have 2 meeting rooms with a capacity of 49 and 12.
