History
Established in 1982.
Since its beginning as a small fiber studio in 1982, Carlton Gallery has evolved into a fine art contemporary gallery. Getting its start exhibiting a few local artists, wearable art, and sponsoring fashion shows in other venues, the gallery is now known for its fine art exhibitions. It showcases over 200 local, regional and national artists highlighting art of all media - paintings, glass, sculpture, wood, clay, wearable art and jewelry. Toni has been right there every step of the way providing her clients with the individual attention and impeccable service they deserve. "I enjoy speaking to the heart of others in person, through my artwork and through the art of others shown in the Gallery." Carlton Gallery at Creekside was a landmark for many visitors, artists, and friends of the community where she had her gallery for 22 years. Currently just across the hwy from Creekside toward Boone, NC-105, Carlton Gallery is in the building formally known as Antonaccio Fine Art since May 2008.
Meet the Business Owner: Toni C.
Native to the High Country, with a heritage of Appalachian Weavers, quilters, and woodworkers, Toni Carlton began her art career as a fiber artist after graduating with an Art and Industrial Art degree from ASU. As a third generational weaver, Carlton's early work was primarily fiber, including traditional weaving patterns, modern wall hangings, and sculptural basketry. In her most recent compositions, as Carlton combines calligraphic and Asian symbols into her work along with hand-woven fibers created on a loom built by her grandfather she says "I'm committed to co-creating heartfelt expressions of life's journey." Currently Carlton's work is a series of mixed media collages incorporating images from personal life experiences, a love of dance, and photographic images taken during travels as well as multicultural images to represent the universal connection of all our relations. Many of her pieces represent the deeper levels of feminine awakening using multiple layers-mixed media
