I kept walking up Pieri St and met more kitties and artwork, finally arriving at Nancy Russell's house which is just amazing. I love the messages, the colors and the vibrant/primitive style. Definitely worth a walking tour.

Nancy's 1925 Sears kit house on Pieri CT is worth the stop. It is practically on the shores of this small town (dot on the map). There is so much to look at I didn't know where to start. It is whimsical, colorful and and creativity is abound here and is an ever changing piece of art..yes, the whole house and garden is whimsy art! . She also holds a yearly art and crafts show, should you want local art from artisans from Monterey to Santa Cruz counties, you'll be glad you sought out this event-(mlartscrafts.weekly.com) Moss Landing Arts and Crafts SHOW. Special handmade ceramics, metal art, driftwood creations, unusual succulent garden designs, baskets, yard art and "fun art" etc. is waiting for you. Not sure if it will happen during Covid though. This will be a memorable and "non touristy" worthwhile excursion to a small idyllic beach community.

It was started by a wonderful couple whose been married for 50 years! Their children and spouses all have a hand in the gallery from being an artist to administering and operations. It's a family affair. The love for each other spills into the love for their gallery and guests who visits. It's a magical place that touches all senses. The Hawthorne family is gifted with creative talent and visitors delight in their glorious art. Each work is a unique masterpiece. We love their paintings, sculptures and everything in between. While we could have ordered online, we didn't want it shipped to us and that's not an option. We also wondered about custom sizes. So we dropped by the Capitola Village location to chat with Tony himself. Tony was very helpful and the process was simple. We prepaid a reasonable price and he told us we could pick it up in a few weeks. As promised, it was ready 3 weeks later. There's lots of fun and compelling prints in the gallery. We wish he had a few more with otters or sea lions.

Her store is quaint and a ton of fun! Being mixed race and part Mexican, a lot of the items I totally understood and enjoyed the humor. Just started following them on Instagram to see what her latest designs will be? The boutique is only open to the public on the weekends. You can still purchase items online and request special orders. To find the shop in town, it's located next to Dona Esther's, walk back and it's across from a local brewery. Great place to buy presents or something for yourself.

Not least because this is a small town, and pretty much everything is within walking distance. Thus even if the spot you find is down a ways, it still won't be an issue to walk here. This is a smaller, intimate gallery. While most of the art is created by the woman running the place, she does have some small collaborative efforts. The brooches, costume jewelry and skater art swag are in collaboration with other artists. All the art is latin styles and there are some simply epic star wars styled works. The Milagros style pieces are unique, and it goes without saying that the Dia de los Muertos is highly creative. There is also some pop art on premises-a handmade snarky chandelier, fantastically worked skateboards, serape flags (no really), a stranger things waffle painting, cactus planters, and well whatever the house artist is inspired to make. Pricing is at the artists discretion and will range all over the place, but significant creative pleasing originals can be had for less then a hundred bucks, and some of the smaller items go below ten, which is a total bargain for work that is both creative, modern and very well done. If you are so inclined, the artist has been known do commissioned pieces(such as a portrait) but that's something you'll have to work out with her. Overall it's a newer, smaller, and the most creative art shop along the main downtown drag.
