My daughter attended Carlisle. This was, admittedly some time ago, but a good friend sent her much younger children here, and was president of the PTA. I attended events at Carlisle, and maintained relationships with the staff and heads.
This is an excellent infant school (reception - year 2). There is a three form entry, with up to 30 in each class (when my daughter went there, most classes had over 30 due to successful appeals and children moving into the area; this is illegal now). The teachers, many of whom have been there for years and years, are, for the most part committed, caring and effective. The school has effective leadership, and continuity of leadership - the present head has been there over 15 years, and the head before her was there for yonks and yonks.
The classrooms are clean and attractively decorated with the children's artwork. The playground has recently undergone some significant improvements, and there is good play (both active and quiet) equipment there. The security is (sadly but necessarily) tight.
I am glad my daughter attended Carlisle, and would not hesitate to recommend the school to new parents. read more
