I kinda knew it was gonna happen so I had a pair of eclipse viewing glasses I got a long time ago, but still work fine. Wow, that was some eclipse, not as spectacular as a total eclipse, but it sure did get dark! Elko is a nice town, big enough to have all the food and services you might need. Sorry, no Costco or Trader Joe's, but hey, the Walmart has most everything. Hotel are fine too. I didn't have a real camera that could photograph the eclipse, but I did take a pic of the online pics posted.

Visited this place for a rest stop as my college science group drove down to Death Valley National…read morePark. We were all very impressed by the new geology exhibit! It is beyond cool, especially if you are interested in mining and the geology of the area. There was also a friendly woman whose office was across from the exhibit who showed us some bigger samples of rhyolite and other cool shiny rocks. Definitely helped me understand why the next few miles of driving looked the way that they did. A very cool stop! Keep doing what you do, BMCC!
