My high school senior needed two suits for upcoming proms, one blue and one black, with different color accessories. Not knowing where to start, a family member suggested we visit Carl Anthony tuxedo. We walked in and were greeted immediately. Our sales person, Taylor, made the process quick and easy. She went through the options of renting vs buying a suit and took some measurements. She asked a few questions to narrow down the accessories (vest, suspenders, bow tie, traditional tie, shoes etc) and brought over a few jackets for my son to try on. We decided to rent the blue suit (for $229 which comes with a button down shirt you get to keep, plus a tie, and shoes to wear for the event) and buy the black suit (for $299 plus alterations) She took our deposit and we were done. We came to Carl Anthony Tuxedo to help my sister's fiancé find a wedding suit--to buy, not rent. Unfortunately, the experience was disheartening and left us feeling ignored and unwelcome. After we arrived, multiple white customers came in after us and were helped immediately--greeted, toured through the store, and shown suit options by several staff members. Meanwhile, we were told to "look around" and left standing without any assistance. This happened repeatedly--each time a white couple entered, they were prioritized while we were overlooked. The most blatant moment was when a white couple was shown matching shoes right in front of us, while we stood less than a foot away still waiting. No one in our group is white, and the stark contrast in treatment felt racially motivated. We waited over 30 minutes before someone finally came over to help us, and even then, the staff member seemed visibly annoyed that we were trying on suits. This was supposed to be a celebratory moment for a groom preparing for his big day. Instead, it became a frustrating experience marked by unequal treatment. My husband and I went to Carl Anthony Tuxedo with a specific vision on what we wanted for our wedding party and we were blown away! Dan was extremely helpful and personable--he truly has a good eye for color coordination and matching the formality of the occasion with tuxedos versus suits. We personally did not gravitate towards a "matchy-matchy" wedding party where everyone wore the exact same suit, but Dan coordinated every single outfit for the groomsmen, the father of the bride, father of the groom, and the ring bearers where each style complemented each other and catered to each person's features. His timeline was spot on and his prices are beyond reasonable. Even as a bride, Dan offered insight which helped me find just the right shade of ivory/white for groomsmen button ups and flower girl dresses (through a picture on my phone!) so as not to clash with my wedding dress. He offered us the most affordable option for ring bearer outfits, which was great, because everything wedding gets pretty pricey with all the little details. Sizing for everyone was spot on--impressive, since we got married AFTER the holidays. The staff there was also very friendly and responsive. Told them i was in two wedding parties in 2 days and wouldnt have time to try the tux on before going to my second wedding. They gave me a shirt wayyy too small. I noticed that they take on too much business on at once and couldnt keep up. The guy said he would mail me a $50 check for the shirt not fitting. Never got it. Go somewhere else. read more

I had to rent 3 suits for my boys for my sisters wedding on 5/22.. personally I think they are extremely over priced for the quality of the suits and the miserable service! Once we got to the wedding I went o put the shoes on my 4 year old and they looked like somthing that should of been thrown out over a year ago.. I had to send my husband to go buy a pair! I was very pleased with the assortment of suits and tuxedos they had... They had a pretty good price range to fit in any budget, but the quality of the tuxedos was not sacrificed in any way. I liked the fact that each tux was fit to order, and that they had hundreds of tuxedos in stock. Unlike many other places where the tuxes look beaten and worn (and have that prom-like appearance), the tuxedos at Carl Anthony's look new, as if they never had to be tailored each week. These guys run a really great business. We had 9 men total in our wedding party of all heights and sizes and they were able to accomidate us with ease. They have tons of options at very reasonable prices. They even had a deal running where my [now] husband got his suit for free. Our guys were all over the NE, so they just needed measurements from them from any store, instead of having them all come to RI to get fitted. They had a fitting for the guys the day before and even came to the hotel to pick up the suits the day after the wedding. The guys looked awesome and I totally recommend them. read more

I went to Carl Anthony tuxedo with my husband last week to have a suit altered period while there a man, who I believe to be the owner, spoke about an inventory of shoes that he had mistakenly purchased. He explained he had no use for the shoes. I mention that I work in a high school with students who can't necessarily always afford such luxuries as dress shoes. It's currently prom and graduation season and I have a lot of students who may avoid these events because they don't have appropriate dress. The man then offered me the whole lot of mistaken inventory. He could have sold them or even returned them. Instead he made a very generous donation.
