Traumatizing Experience - Uncompassionate Doctors Ruined What Should Have Been Beautiful Moments…read more I had been going to Advanced Women's Healthcare in La Quinta since I was 17 years old. I recently switched gynecologists after moving out of the valley and into the city, and only now have I fully realized what a horrible office and practice this truly is. It's not the employees who ruined it--far from it. The staff is great; Tatiana, in particular, is amazing and always wonderful. In this case, it's the complete opposite of what usually happens: the employees are the highlight, but the actual doctors are uncompassionate and careless. There are no real words to describe how deeply let down I was by these doctors. During my first labor, I was treated as if I had already done this before--like I should just know everything. No one explained what natural labor feelings were. I was never told that shivering is a normal part of the labor process. Worse, when my doctor got impatient because the baby was stuck and we were waiting for a contraction, they just went ahead and sliced me (an episiotomy) so the baby could come out. That was Dr. Passini. My second labor was even more traumatizing. Two months before I gave birth, my husband suffered a life-altering accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. I spent the last couple of months of my pregnancy completely alone while he was in rehab, dealing with immense emotional stress, confusion, and grief. When I went into labor, the pain was excruciating--the epidural was not inserted correctly and didn't work at all, so I felt every single labor pain. My husband, freshly out of the hospital just a couple of weeks earlier, was in the room hearing me scream and cry. His trauma from the accident triggered a severe PTSD reaction. The male doctor who was delivering turned around, looked my husband directly in the eyes, and said, "You need to get it together." After I gave birth, I have no real memory or recollection of anything--I just remember the doctor handing the baby over to the nurses to give to me, and that's the last I saw of him until my postpartum appointment. At that first postpartum visit, I started expressing the intense emotions and feelings I was going through, which were clearly linked to postpartum depression--made 100% understandable by everything my family had endured. I explained how these emotions were consuming my chest to the point where I couldn't breathe. The doctor's only response was, "Oh yeah, that's normal. You're gonna go through that stuff, but everything should be fine. You should be fine," delivered with such careless facial expressions. I wasn't treated like a patient; I was just another dollar sign. Throughout my entire nine-month pregnancy, I only saw two out of the four doctors scheduled for labor and delivery--each one just once. How are you supposed to build any connection or trust with people who are supposed to know you and your case when you're not just another number on a piece of paper? Now that I've switched to a new gynecologist, I'm experiencing everything I went through before--but in a new location with actual compassion, explanation, and care. I can't describe the level of trauma and PTSD this practice has caused me. Giving birth is supposed to be one of the most beautiful, special moments of your life, but these people--this practice, these doctors--took that away from me. To them, you're just another dollar; they do not care about you as a person. I am strongly recommending that you do NOT come to this practice. Yes, giving birth in the Palm Springs but there are other doctor offices that will treat you with so much more dignity, respect, and genuine good intentions and feelings toward you during labor and delivery. This experience has left lasting scars, and I wish I had known sooner. Please learn from my story and choose a provider who truly sees and supports you.

Well no one got back to me. I finally called and they said no they won't see me. I asked why didn't anyone get back to me, and that I had been waiting since June 3, it is now June 19. The receptionist's response was "I don't know." No apologies or anything. Now I have to wait for another referral and do the whole waiting game all over again. I understand they aren't seeing new patients, but this was done in very bad taste. I am not just another number.
