No longer eligible for a certain insurance-covered prophylactic low-dose CT scan in GA, the self-pay option was ridiculous. In the thousands of dollars. For the fun of it, I asked a receptionist at Radiology Regional what it would cost me without insurance. $179!!!! Sold! I've got mixed feelings about the personnel. Some are sort of gruff and a little snooty. Some are kind, bordering on friendly. But the bottom line is, they get the job done. And if you pay out-of-pocket, the rates are affordable.

What upset me most was not the delay -- it was the unprofessional behavior afterward. After I spoke to an employee, I could overhear comments being repeated and mocked to coworkers nearby. No patient should feel laughed at or talked about while simply trying to check in for a medical appointment. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and completely inappropriate in a healthcare setting. Technical problems are understandable. Treating patients with disrespect is not. I hope management seriously addresses professionalism and patient treatment at this location.

I was examened and released with instructions to see my primary physician for a follow up. My primary doctor was not available and I was seen by Melonie Santiago , P. A. at the Outpatient Center. P. A. Santiago was very patient and listened to all of my concerns and addressed each one in great detail. She made a couple of referrals to specialists for follow through visits to ensure that my health concerns were being monitored by doctors who specialized in the treatment for the medical issues that were of concern to me. P. A. Santiago Put me at ease with her demeanor, smile , tone and empathy all while maintaining a sense of professional decorum. I was super anxious prior to my visit after experiencing some odd symptoms that I had never experienced before. P. A. Santiago LISTENED to me and my concerns , unlike some of the other medical "professionals" with whom I have been interacting recently. Kudos to P. A. Santiago !! I felt so relieved after my visit with her and realized that I had spent 50 minutes with her in her office. I was so appreciative of her spending so much time with me allowing me to voice my concerns and of her understanding and explaining everything to me to my satisfaction. Also thankful that P. A. When I asked to reschedule for later that same day, I decided against it and left instead. Doctors run behind schedule all the time and patients are expected to wait it out. A 12-minute grace period, or even a quick courtesy call, isn't unreasonable to ask for -- especially for a first visit. If this is how new patients are treated before they've even been seen, it doesn't inspire confidence in how existing patients are treated when something urgent comes up.
