I have been a patient at Care Dental since 2013, and I have always been very happy with the dentists--they are excellent. However, I have had repeated issues with the office manager that have made my visits frustrating. I regularly receive reminder texts and calls confirming my appointments. But when I arrive, I am often told that they do not have proper authorization from my insurance and am asked to wait. This should have been verified in advance before confirming my appointment. During my last visit, instead of helping resolve the issue, the office manager kept taking outside calls one after another. I even told her that if she was busy, I would be happy to reschedule, but instead of handling the situation professionally, she spoke to me in a very unprofessional and confrontational way. There are many dental offices in this area, but I continue to come because the dentist is excellent. However, I am concerned that because of the poor customer service from the office manager, patients may choose to go elsewhere, and the practice could lose customers. read more

I chipped by upper front tooth a couple of months ago, and Dr. Welikala did an amazing job of filling in the chip (a rather large chip!)...you cannot even tell where the filling ends and the tooth begins, fabulous work! Dr. Welikala's bedside manner is great, he is warm, friendly and caring. His staff is wonderful too, very friendly and always willing to help or answer any question. Very bad customer service, they canceled my appointment last minutes and without showing any apology or sincere, they don't care about you if you took a day off or not or you missed work. Very terrible hygienist. Definitely I will be looking for a different dentist. I've been going to Dr. Welikala for years now! He is a great dentist, as well as a person. He has a super soft & calming voice, which is nice. The dental assistants who work there are also very nice! My dad also comes here and he loves to bring them lemons, lol. I saw a chain dentist in Colorado 2 years ago, and they told me I had 10 cavities, but fast forward to my appointment last week- only 1 cavity. This was my first time at Care Dental and I'll be back in 6 months. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Kid Friendly! Each teeth cleaning area has its own TV to keep the kidos entertained. The decor is a little out dated but their 360 X-ray machine is super cool! They also take regular teeth X-rays. I also really like how they used the water pick to clean your teeth first and then go back in for a deep clean. Way less painful. Terrible service and a waste of time. The location is small and crowded, the lights were flickering, the place looked very raggedy. They don't have enough workers and the wait time was not worth the service. I went in for a consult on a wisdom tooth extraction, they took x-rays just to tell me to get a referral from my main dentist to refer me elsewhere in Camarillo. I had a great experience at this location. Their dental hygienist did a great job of cleaning everything out prior to my cavities getting filled and Dr. Welikala did an excellent job at explain all the procedures i had to go through. He did everything possible to save a broken tooth I had which i now appreciate. However, some advice I'd give would be to the staff in the front. I have to get my wisdom teeth removed, one is growing in crooked and giving me lots of pain. When requesting if i could get my referral email to me, this individual said yes and when i called after hours of waiting she told me she had two weeks to send them and i asked if there was anyway around that because I'm in pain and can't wait two weeks, all she said was i have two weeks. I had to call another dentist and that dentist let me know that the way around that was to pick them up. She could've done a better job at explaining the process and offered options. read more

I wish I could give a negative star. As I sit in a new office trying to get my tooth fixed I find out that I am not going to get the service I need again as care dental charged my insurance for something they didn't even do. Now I have to fight with my insurance company so I can finally get my tooth fixed. I took my son and myself to this office after reading the reviews. Once I got there we had to wait almost 2 hours to be seen. I understand that it's "Covid" but if you have an appointment you should have the courtesies to try and get us in closer to our scheduled time. The office was dirty and old. After waiting when I finally got into the chair they told me they could not fix my tooth or clean them either that they didn't have anyone there to do the cleaning. I was blown away. As the DENTIST sat there and said oh yeah sorry while I'm looking at my son in the next chair getting his teeth cleaned. I asked why he was getting his cleaned and I wasn't he literally walked away from me. The front desk girl then came over and said we are really full today and will need to reschedule. WHAT I scheduled an appointment it's why I'm here. I didn't walk in off the street with a broken tooth asking to be squeezed in. I had already waited over a week to get in. I was so upset. Now at a new clean dentist office as I finished doing all my paper work they tell me that my insurance was charged for the broken tooth and a cleaning I never received. Beyond maddening and disgusting. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this office. Shame on you taking advantage of people in a time that people are hurting beyond belief. read more

I went in for an annual cleaning and the woman that cleaned my teeth did a horrible job. She poked the hell out of my gums. I could smell her horrible breath through her mask. She wasn't practicing health safety, being in a pandemic, I saw her touching all my utensils bare handed after seeing her touch everything in the office even trying to reattach a dirty hose back to the water connector. I never once saw her sanitize/wash her hands. The room she put me in looked dirty, unsanitary and not upkept. I was extremely worried but didn't say anything. She did a horrible job cleaning my teeth. She didn't even polish my teeth. My insurance pays for a yearly cleaning and I feel like I got ripped off. Dr. Welikala at Care Dental has been my regular dentist for years now. While no one truly enjoys a trip to the dentist, sadly there are those of us who weren't blessed with great chompers. I've had numerous dentists over the years, including some that may have masochistic tendencies. However I feel that in finding Dr. Mac, I've finally come home... For one thing, the staff at Care Dental are always compassionate, sympathetic to your needs and extremely helpful. Even though I have the mother of all dental insurance plans plus a supplemental plan, that got wiped out last year when I needed crowns. The girls in the front office not only helped me with my AFLAC paperwork, but also worked out an excellent automatic payment schedule, allowing the work to be done quickly without money up front. In addition, the facilities, while not huge, are always neat, organized and clean. I especially enjoy the headsets and video screens which allow you to watch uplifting videos to take your mind off of the inevitable... Perhaps what impresses me the most is Dr. Welikala's dedication to his patient's comfort. He's very keen to ask throughout the process if you are feeling any pain at all, and if you are, he stops immediately to make sure that's taken care of first and foremost. This is far different than the experiences I've had with other dentists who simply want to get through the procedure as quickly as possible, even if you're in pain. There are a couple very minor negatives however which customers should be aware of. The business hours are based on their appointment schedule, which means you could show up at 8:00 without an appointment and find the office closed. It would be nice if they kept regular business hours for walk-in customers or emergencies. Also during a recent dental emergency I had, they were unable to see me and instead wanted to call in a prescription for me. At the very least I should've been referred to another dentist for immediate treatment. Other than these things, I still highly recommend Care Dental. read more
