I really like my therapist but Care Counseling as a practice has been really frustrating and stressful. I asked for my saved card removed from the payment portal after it was incorrectly charged over a hundred dollars I didn't owe for the second time. I have declined to save my card since and instead pay my copay after each appointment, and they have hounded me for it. The billing policy states "If a balance over $25 remains unpaid more than 48 hours after a session". In January I had an appointment on a Friday, the invoice was added to the portal on Sunday, and I had a 30 dollar balance for that single day over the weekend. They cancelled my upcoming appointments Monday morning before I checked my email and saw the invoice. There is no option to pay an upcoming copay before the invoice posts. 48 hours had not passed between the time the invoice posted to my account and the time my appointment was cancelled. A single business day hadn't even passed. Care expected me to: - Notice a weekend email - Log into a portal immediately - Pay a charge that didn't exist until hours earlier - Or lose access to care I left a one star review at that time. Someone from the practice actually called me about my review. I felt very uncomfortable with this, but she made it sound like she'd take care of the issue, so I said I'd remove the review. It was better for a week. Then a day after an appointment, within hours of the invoice posting, they called me to ask for my 30 dollar payment. I paid it when I saw the invoice in my email like I always do. I had another appointment yesterday. Today they called me and told me if I didn't save a card on file they'd need to cancel my upcoming appointment. If you want me to save my card on file, don't charge me over a hundred dollars I don't owe not once, but TWICE. I see from other reviews that I'm not the only person this has happened to. My husband previously went to Care too but had different issues. His therapist left and set him up with another therapist there. He had one appointment with her and another scheduled, but she abruptly left (or was fired? My first Care Counseling therapist was fired between my appointments too). He got a weird wishy washy phone call about rescheduling with a third therapist, but when he scheduled a time on their website, was informed that time wasn't really available. He gave up after that and made an appointment at a different practice. I would not recommend Care Counseling to anyone. I would stop going if I didn't like my therapist as much as I do. I suppose that choice might be made for me since they're threatening to cancel my appointment if I don't save a card. read more

This practice is abusive and uncaring. Therapists appear to be overloaded and micrimanaged in an uncaring way. This translates to patent care. I was discharged from my therapist without warning, the day before I was scheduled for a session where we would begin working on tieing things up for discharge. There was no warning. An email stating that the therapists were overloaded and retaining needed to be done. I heard nothing from my therapist. I got a phone call from the supervisor and was not given any care or apologies for the traumatizing experience of seeing my therapist taken off my case. With no real warning or adequate explanation. I was quicky discharged the next week, and since then I have realized how badly that experience was. I will never go back there. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I have been a client for over a year and have been through 4 different providers, not by my choice. I have been billed inadvertently, charged for appointments that I cancelled because I was sick, and generally just been given the run around. it is very clear they do not care about providing a counseling service, just what they can charge your insurance for. no wonder they have shit reviews. fuck this place read more

Have had nothing but issues with them from the start. I missed 1 25 dollar copay on a friday and they cancelled my therapy apt next without telling me OR infomring my therapist. They also charged me 6.29 to "move an apt from 3pm friday to 11am friday. This change happened the WEEK BEFORE. they care more about getting their money than they do your mental health. You get random "fee adjustments" on your statement. the past one for me was $37 bucks. I do not recommend anyone go here just. The only good thing is that my therapist is awesome. we gelled so well, very easy to talk to. I cand deal with the office stuff they put you through. I read more

I was sent to Haverhill and my insurance does not cover that city. So after 20 sessions I was told that I was now responsible for $150 sessions. I liked my therapist but there business staff is does not care about the patients. read more

I have posted this review on google as well, but want to cover my bases in hopes that nobody else will have an experience like I did. I enjoyed my therapist at CARE Counseling. That is, until she was fired with no notice. Because of the abrupt nature of her termination, we were not provided adequate time to safely close our therapeutic relationship, something which the supervisors at CARE should know is very important therapeutically. Instead, I was left with no answers, feeling abandoned and distrustful. When I found a new provider, the supervisor (directly, I found out) would not provide me with my mental health records. I called to inquire about my records 5+ times over the course of 3 weeks, filled out a ROI for them, and never received so much as a call back. I did finally receive my records after showing up in person not only once but twice. Something shady is going on here, and I absolutely do not recommend working with CARE Counseling or with anyone associated with Sonya Gelinas (the supervisor). When I posted this review on Google the owner responded and made some excuses about medical records taking time to be released. This is irrelevant, as my calls were never returned and no progress was made until I showed up in person. They also insist there is nothing shady going on, but I disagree. An office dealing with clients with various mental health diagnoses simply cannot have such a high turnover rate for staff without it being 1) representative of a bigger issue or 2) creating an extremely unstable environment for their clients. Now having read comments from several other people previously involved with CARE, I remain extremely wary of Sonya Gelinas and all those associated with her. I had been going to them for over six months every week and my co-pay was $25 then all of a sudden they charged me without giving me notification and told me that I had a $5000 deductible that I was liable for and that all of my appointments from that point on would be $121 that I was responsible for and when I proceeded to tell them that was not what my insurance policy states that all I had to pay was a co-pay of $25 They said they called my insurance company and that's what I owe when I proceeded to call my insurance company. And sat on the phone for over an hour and a half They explained to me that my coverage stated that I only have to pay a $25 co-pay and I had my insurance carrier call them and explain to them and send proof of my coverage and when I got off the phone with my insurance provider, I called care counseling back to see if it was resolved they then told me they were still on the phone with my insurance provider which they were not and that they would get back to me and they did not I really truly think that they don't care about much more than profit. It doesn't matter to them that you have problems that you need to address as long as they can get money from you that's all that matters. When you call billing, nobody ever answers nor do they return your phone call I can't emphasize enough go somewhere else don't go here. And if I could give no stars I would. read more

I've been apart of CARE for about a year and a half now. I've seen three providers - one left and one did not accept my insurance any longer. The staff and previous therapists were so accommodating with setting me up with a new therapist they thought was a good fit for me. The environment is comfortable and the receptionists are very helpful! I really enjoy being apart of this community. read more

If I could rate them no stars I would. I do not by any means recommend going to "care" counseling. The therapists are mediocre, and despite advertising EMDR treatments, I never received one in the year I attended. Some "therapists" aren't even licensed nor do they make that clear in booking or transferring. The staff, including front desk employees, billing "specialists", supervisors, and the owner herself, are uncaring and treat clients poorly at best. They ignored my calls and refused to help with issues caused by their mistakes. They failed to fill out necessary paperwork for NH victims compensation, causing my appointments to be canceled just before I was to testify in court. Despite their many errors, they wouldn't let me resume sessions until I resolved the issue they caused. They also charged my credit card unauthorized amounts, which I noticed only after significant charges had accumulated which I was never properly compensated for their mistakes. They shouldn't accept patients through victims compensation since they can't ensure victims of serious crimes receive proper treatment they need and deserve. To say I was disappointed from my experience here would be an understatement, they should really be ashamed of themselves. read more

terrible customer service. don't spend your money, or even your insurance money here. they're closer to professional scammers than therapists. they make profits off peoples trauma and blame the client for any minor inconveniences and charge them for it. I was told my appointment payment would be $5 here with my insurance. 5 appointments later and over $200 later that is clearly not the case. I was not charged In office or told in person I had any tab to pay. until they took out 4 appointments worth of money from my account all on one day. not to mention I cancelled my next 2 appointments and were charged for canceling them a week in advance. charged 20x the amount I was told by the billing department, and my therapist I'd be paying. there's tons of shady fraud going on here and I do not recommend this place to my worst enemy read more
